looks like luther will be #1 overall on radio in about a week and a half

This is a huge reason for its stability in the top 10 and the streaming boost from the halftime performance helped it rise to #1. You're not spending multiple weeks in the top 5/top 10 without substantial radio airplay.

U can tell how rare victory is for some

They bragged about Kendrick's numbers in 2017 and had to shut up for another 7 years before opening their mouths again. I understand why they've all become obsessed with numbers now

Man shut the f*** up maybe if he dropped a hundred vinyls he’d be up but no one even uses cd’s anymore

UTOPIA did 63K in CD copies first week. Any more excuses?

He might really be cooked commercially in the US.

Like, yes, Hurry Up Tomorrow debuted with 490k units but that was only because of an insane push via multiple variants of physical versions of the album. The fact that it went from 490k to 101k to 58k proves just how few people are actually listening to the album. And this is why I always say that that streaming is ultimately what determines the long-term success of any album. You can move 600k physicals in week 1. If people don't keep listening to that album substantially, it'll drop like a rock in future weeks.

For all we know, a random song off the album might go viral and bring in new life for the album but the Weeknd has never been an album artist. All his albums are carried by hits and all his albums without hits have flopped (Kiss Land, Dawn FM).

We'll see what happens with Hurry Up Tomorrow but so far, not so good.

“The Weeknd has never been an album artist”

    Okay buddy

Can we talk about how Drake and party sold more second week than that bundle merchant d***ged out punk sissy from the north side

The streaming debut was higher. They had virtually the same percentage of drop in streams from week one to week two. You’re not the sharpest tool in the shed are you

This is the same thing y'all did after Honestly, Nevermind dropped — foolishly tried to use the commercial performance of a dance album made by a rapper to judge said rapper's current commercial stature.

Y'all celebrated Drake finally being over only for Her Loss to post monster numbers 4 months later

The point y’all are refusing to acknowledge is that YES: Honestly, Nevermind was a dance album in which most of the DANCE songs didn’t perform well. But Jimmy Cooks was purposefully tacked onto that album for the rap fans and it was a hit.

This album has NUMEROUS solo Drake rap records tacked onto it for the rap fans and none of them are doing the damage that you’d expect a Drake rap song to do.

And don’t even say “because they haven’t been released as singles yet”, because Jimmy Cooks went #1 MONTHS before it was officially released as a single and sent to radio.

Songs like GIMME A HUG and NOKIA are already predicted to be out of the Top 10 after one week, if either of those songs were on Honestly, Nevermind, they would’ve been in the Top 10 for at least a month like Jimmy Cooks was

This list is shockingly short tbh with the amount of album bombs in the last decade. You forgot Beyoncé last year with 2 Most Wanted and Jolene.
