He definitely had radio ready songs on the album and he even did his best to push a couple of them by servicing them to radio, dropping music videos. They just didn't connect.

kendrick was ready to do his arthouse legacy lap of his career but niggas had to drag him out thiinking he was sweet, and wanted a damn 2
and yeah i agree, there's a few songs on mmbs that could have fitted on gnx or a gnx-esque album n it has way more "mainstream" or traditional songs than people act. more than even tpab.
he didnt even give it a week of promo outside of heart p5, which wasnt even on it at first - s*** was weird
still went triple plat before like that happened tho. his "worst" still outperformed almost every nigga including mr. top 3.5 j throat

We'll see. He's never ranked higher than Drake in any year and Drake moved more units than him in the US (the biggest music market) last year.
