Last Drake album to drop with physicals was Nothing Was the Same, so all this talk about Kendrick not doing massive numbers because he didn't drop with physicals is cope as far as I'm concerned.

Y'all always expected a Drake album to put up massive numbers despite only ever being a digital release so stop making an exception for Kendrick, who y'all insist is the biggest rapper in the world now.

Niggas been calling Kendrick the #1 guy in rap since this beef popped off but they can't hold him to the same commercial expectations they've held Drake to for the past 15 years. It's excuse after excuse for Kendrick. If Drake dropped and did less than 300k, y'all wouldn't shut up about him flopping.

Promotion isn't a big deal when you're a superstar. If Taylor announces that she has an album dropping tonight or just drops an album out of nowhere, she'll still do massive numbers. Why? Because she's a superstar. Drake himself has a handful of surprise releases that did numbers and if they hadn't y'all would have scrutinized the numbers because you all had the expectation of Drake doing numbers regardless of how he drops music because he's a superstar.

Y'all spent the entire summer insisting Kendrick was now the #1 guy in rap. Well, that means, among other things, the lofty commercial expectations rap fans have for every Drake project transfer to Kendrick. He drops his first project since the beef and all y'all can do is come up with excuses.
