lol, it’s funny how y’all get so mad whenever someone accurately points out that his recent albums aren’t doing great in the US

reality can be hard to accept sometimes

The album sold within the range of all of his biggest albums, I don’t understand this argument lmao

    You too I guess?

He dropped a tv show album
    A live album
    And a greatest hits album

all in like 2 years prior to this and STILL sold within the range of his biggest albums. Are you gonna argue physicals? Cause Abel has always been a physicals artist so if anything he just split his fan base, like Travis, across streaming and physical sales but that doesn’t mean they fell off

  • Feb 6, 2025

How can you be so slow s*** not even worth quoting, mangotflu is at least funny

  • Feb 6, 2025

actually a smart approach, Taylor does the same s***. Surprised Drake still doesn’t do it. It makes sense. Ye did it too cause his fan base was both older and younger in large numbers. It’s why he could sell 125k $200 stem players that billboard blocked

back then you woulda told me “yea Kanye fell off” cause that 125k didn’t show up on his weekly sales on Billboards list. cut the s*** out man

Nah the projected streams for this are a lot lower than AH, especially when you factor in the # of trakcs

    I mean he’s trying

The album garnered 50.00 million streams on its second day, 40.18 million on its third, and 43.38 million on its fourth, marking the Weeknd's biggest second, third, and fourth-day totals for an album.

Feel like ya’ll just don’t want to admit that’s he hasn’t fallen off nor is he. Just being picky

    I said ‘falling off’

of course, he hasn’t completely fallen off (yet). it’s not like he’s doing Carti numbers or anything. but his US sales and streams are clearing on a downward trajectory

Literally had like 3 hits last year, Timeless is doing fine and almost all of his biggest hits are still performing very well streaming-wise

Been listening to homegirl since 2019. She's really special. I'm happy to see her finally get her time in the sun.

pretty much any time i look at his spotify page it's either #1, #2 or #3 in the world . saying that he's falling off or isn't a megastar is absurd dude

it's harder than ever to get high record sales and they rlly shouldn't b the sole way u determine whether an artist is popular or not .. some of u guys r way too twitter-brained

the only ppl still nailing it r pop girlies bcuz their fans go out of the way to make sure their numbers r high so they can win arguments online

weirdest thing to me is how he didn't get a truly inescapable megahit off of this or dawn.fm , but i don't rlly think that's what he's going for anyway

This "stat" literally doesn't mean s***

S*** is so OD corny I can't believe a real human thinks this way about music

What does me hating on Honestly, Nevermind on my first listen have to do with anything? And why are you a weirdo? Why do you have a screenshot of a post from almost 3 years ago? And more importantly, why are you posting said screenshot as a type of "gotcha"?

Just to clarify. When you've toured enough as a mega star, you've secured an audience who will always show up for you, regardless of your current commercial standing. That's why someone like Justin Timberlake who hasn't had a legit smash hit or an album that's performed well over time in well over a decade, can drop a dud of an album like Man of the Woods and have the tour for that album be his biggest yet. That's why Kendrick dropped Mr. Morale (which was a flop) but the tour for the album became his biggest yet. That's why Ed Sheeran is clearly not the star he was back in 2017-2019 but is still touring the world playing stadiums. That seems to be where the Weeknd is right now or at least, where he's heading to. Yes, he'll be able to sell stadiums off the back of his large arsenal of hits and the fans he's been able to accumulate but the worse his albums perform (why streaming is the preferable metric to use to judge the success of an album is because that's the only metric we have now that tells us how much of a genuine interest the general public has in a song or an album), the more he'll become a legacy act in that regard.

Most of the Weeknd's first week pure sales for HUT were before any fan heard the album. Taylor Swift will sell 5M albums first week just off her fans buying because she's Taylor Swift. They don't need to hear the album to support it. It's how the album continues to stream in the weeks and months after its debut week that tell you how the general public really feels about the album.

That's the point being made by some posters in here.

Dog. His highest first week total EVER is 444K. This album is projected to do 380K.

His highest first week streaming total EVER is 163K. This album is projected to do 120K.

Y’all keep holding him to the standard of being a big first week artist and we have been telling y’all for months that it’s just not the case for him

This is so disingenuous considering you and other Drake stans have been boasting about Australia ticket sales for the last few months as a way to “prove” that Drake hasn’t taken a dip commercially

Also, imagine using Taylor Swift as the bar for commercial success. If thats the case, every single artist who isn’t her is a massive failure
