if you just wanna talk sales drake is lebron and kendrick is like paul george not talking musically or anything
The thing is Kendrick fans have never cared much about critical acclaim. They know that doesn't make you the #1 guy and so they've always wanted Drake's commercial success for Kendrick and believed that after this summer, Kendrick finally had that in the bag.
And that's a rap song, too.
exactly drake is a rapper first nobody calls him a singer
exactly drake is a rapper first nobody calls him a singer
Exactly. That's why it's funny seeing people suggest his success is because he does more than rap. He has like 5 non-rap songs that were huge singles (Hold On, We're Going Home, Hotline Bling, One Dance, Controlla Passionfruit). The rest are all rap or melodic rap. His R&B mostly flop on the charts, even though they're usually fan favorites.
Y’all can say “no album with (insert excuse) has ever done more than (insert cope) number of streams” but this Kendrick album was supposed to be record breaker. It was supposed to be the crowning moment.
But in reality all it’s proving is that he’s still right where he was before in terms of popularity. At most you could say that he’s neck and neck with Drake, but not elevated above him. And if you wanted to be less generous you could also make the argument that he’s still solidly in third place behind Drake and Travis.
Nigga it is TWELVE SONGS
It is IMPOSSIBLE for a TWELVE SONG album to BREAK STREAMING RECORDS
drake did 250k with dark lane demo tapes which was a 12 track surprise album with like half the songs already leaked no bundles i guess that’s the closest thing you can compare it to if you wanna go tit for tat with sales
No, he did 223K
You literally said 400k lmao, multiple times, don't back track now.
No I did not
My prediction is literally on page 1 of the sales thread, can you not read?
How is that a bad thing? Kendrick can try his hand at those types of songs if he wants to. No one said he couldn't.
I literally say in this post “its not a bad thing”
Im responding to a post saying “Kendrick hasnt improved in popularity and his numbers show it”
Im simply just saying that while Drake probably is more popular, the gap was probably never that massive

No one has ever been more mad than this man is mad rn
Drakes biggest songs on all his projects this decade are rap.
Dont understand how this negates what i said
What are you talking about. So should we only count fans that go to the concerts? Should we only count fans that are members of the subreddit?
“Drake’s numbers are inflated because he makes music that a lot of people like”
Yeah no s***
Im confused as to how this relates to my post

Nobody is mad y’all are just annoying as f***

you gotta be trolling, no way you can be this delusional. Kendrick fans never cared about critical reception? Not saying it's good or bad but Kendrick fans in general have cared about that s*** more than sales for his whole career.
We literally got people with metacritic scores as avys here. All the decade best lists get so much hype from his fans.
And #1 in rap does require critical/cultural acclaim. There is a reason guys like Rakim/Nas are still near the top of the list while not even being top 20-30 most successful rappers. Commercial success is one of the factors, there is more to it. Maybe not to casuals who dont love the genre and are just spectators.

The gap has always been massive and the numbers show that very clearly lol.
"i never said he was doing 400k through streaming"

Stupid f***ing idiot

Drake is still the #1 guy is my point so all the yapping y'all did this summer was for nothing. Have a great day, beloved.
Bunch of mental illness itt
Especially from thegreatdivine
Never seen someone come up with so many excuses

Let’s see what that next album does if he’s still the “#1 guy”
The gap has always been massive and the numbers show that very clearly lol.
I disagree
With that being said, it'll be unfortunate if squabble up ends up debuting at #1. tv off is the way better record imo.

You don’t even want to wait for his first album post beef to say this? Well I hope a lot of these screenshots don’t magically reappear
You’re confused about a lot of things clearly
Your post made no sense but okay lmao
