    NEW RELEASES: KACEY'S DEEPER DEBUT

Projections based on Friday's sales and streams find Kacey Musgraves' sixth album, Deeper Well (Interscope/MCA Nashville), heading for an opening salvo in the 75-85k range. Deeper Well's big debut will exceed that of the artist's previous release, Star-Crossed, which debuted with 77k in September 2021. Musgraves is repped by Sandbox Entertainment's Jason Owen.

Meanwhile, our experts have just set down the abacus and predicted that Ariana Grande, who's managed by Good World’s Brandon Creed, will repeat at #1 with eternal sunshine (Republic), itself projecting 80-90k after opening last week with over 200k. If Deeper Well overperforms, things could get interesting. Stay tuned…

    Kacey Musgraves (Interscope/MCA Nashville): 75-85k
    Justin Timberlake (RCA): 60-65k
    Bossman Dlow (Alamo): 21-24k

A song with nearly 100million streams, massive pull on TikTok and massive industry hype isn’t popular anymore? Does it really take a drake feature to make something popular?

Why wasn't it in the top #10 before then?

The song was popular and had charted for 9 weeks but peaked in the top 60. Drake took it straight to the top 10. That what his stimulus does.

No, but it took a Drake feature to get the song to the top 10 after it peaked at #59 despite all its "popularity".

What a nasty thing to say about a new and independent artist.
