so carnival not a mega hit to right?

Carnival is a mega hit, it’s Kanye’s biggest song in over a decade. Remember relative to the artist?

This is such a stupid argument because y'all keep deferring to the years where Drake scored his biggest career hits ever and you're using that as the baseline standard for how all his hits moving forward should have been when he has tons of other hits from before then that weren't as big but are still undisputably regarded as hits.

Songs like One Dance, Hotline Bling, God's Place, Nice for What & In My Feelings are Drake's biggest hits ever and some of the biggest rap hits ever on the Hot 100.

That's like you using Sicko Mode as the benchmark for any/all future Travis Scott hits to be regaded as a "real hit" when the chances are that he'll never score a hit that huge ever again.

Drake's hits from 2009 till like 2014 weren't mega smash hits on the charts. Doesn't change the fact that they were still massive rap hits. Using his hits from 2016-2018 (the period where he scored his biggest hits) as the benchmark for how huge all his hits moving forward have to be to be regarded as smash hits, is a foolish exercise and a ridiculous standard than no one else is held to.

That's like you using Sicko Mode as the benchmark for any/all future Travis Scott hits to be regaded as a "real hit" when the chances are that he'll never score a hit that huge ever again.

Also, isn’t this exactly what y’all did when Utopia dropped and didn’t have any huge hits?

And nobody’s using Drake’s hits from 2016-2018 as the benchmark, we’re using his hits from 2009-2019 as the benchmark.

He doesn’t have a single hit this decade that’s on the level of ANY of his hits from 2009-2019

no one was coping over carnival. responding to people who are lying and saying carnival is bigger than every drake song this decade is not cope.

i mean this decade drakes got

    toosie slide
    way 2 sexy

prolly his biggest hits this decade (they both went #1) (what's next, slime you out etc also went #1 but idc)

carnival feels bigger than what i named

This is also true. Majority of his Hot 100 entries in this decade have been enter-and-freefalls

    Exactly!!

It was “the charts are weak” when Slime You Out freefell off the Hot 100 six months ago, but now they’re in here comparing streaming numbers of Carnival’s 4th week to Laugh Now Cry Later’s 1st week four years ago

    🙄

mega hit is not relative to the artist.

the song can do well relative to the artist and not be a mega hit.

Okay? I still never said anything about cumulative weeks in the Top 10. By “enter-and-freefall” I mean songs that debuted really high and then were out of the Top 40 relatively quickly or off the chart altogether at a quick rate

Sure, with that being said, Carnival is still a mega hit and Drake still doesn’t have any mega hits this decade

Im still confused why drake is on their mind when they should just be celebrating carnival going #1
Bringing up Drake unprovoked is weirdo behavior

They can't use Jack Harlow's success to try to drag Drake because they know that's Drake's boy so the next best person to use was Kanye. If The Weeknd scores another hit, they'll use that to try to drag Drake as well. It never fails and it's pathetic because it's all a product of their insecurity and anger at Drake's longstanding success.

Because it’s not a science. Numbers are not law, they are data. Drake’s songs are not ranked biggest to smallest by how quickly they went platinum. There are a myriad of reasons why Drake songs go platinum relatively quickly in the streaming era, it doesn’t always mean the song is a megahit

    Nobody’s trying to drag Drake

We said Carnival was the biggest rap song of the decade and of course y’all took that as a shot against Aubrey

  • Mar 17, 2024

It’s hilarious that you think that other people care as much about numbers as you do that we’re sitting here in our personal lives everyday mad and insecure because a billionaire artist is successful

I promise you, nobody cares about numbers as much as you do

These artists don’t pay our bills, this is entertainment and escape for us

So Drake can never have a mega hit even if the song does more numbers faster than carnival.

    This is genuine scumbag activity.

that sort of dishonesty where you don’t even have any actual stake in it outside of a parasocial relationship says a lot about your character

Please understand the context of what I’m saying before replying to me.

Divine has been saying Carnival will be out of the Top 10 very soon so it can’t be a huge hit, I was pointing out the hypocrisy and irony in the fact that the 4batz Drake remix lasted exactly one week inside of the Top 10.
Again, using someone’s own logic against them.

    Common sense debating

You're the one who doesn't understand context.

    This is what I said:

Y'all were calling Carnival a mega hit because it spent 3 weeks in the top 10 but the Drake songs that have spent 3-5 times that amount of time in the top 10 this decade aren't mega hits

In case you still don't get it, I asked you how you can say Drake doesn't have any mega hits this decade when he has multiple songs that have spent more time in the top 10 than Carnival, which y'all were calling a mega hit after only 3 weeks. You still can't answer because you know everything you say is bullshit.

You're the same person who was crediting the artists featured on Drake's hits this decade as the reason why they were hits this decade and tried to pass up the lie that Drake has zero solo hits this decade.

Toosie Slide - 10 weeks in the top 10.
Way 2 Sexy - 9 weeks in the top 10 (the single you said came and went faster than any Drake single ever released).
