You contradict yourself every other post
I’m really not. My points have remained consistent.
• Sales are down across the board
• Numbers don’t reflect quality
• More accessible music will always perform better than non-accessible music
FATD went 2x plat in 5 months and you got people in here trying to call it a flop
It's one of 11 total albums to sell higher than 290K first week since 2022.
So did it really underperform, or are sales just down across the board?
But if you do wanna make the argument that it underperformed, the explanation is simple: it's not an accessible album whatsoever.
Pink Friday 2 was made for the charts, Mr. Morale was not, and it still sold pretty well looking back in hindsight
"So did it really underperform, or are sales just down across the board?"
Based on its first day it shouldve been way higher first week. Projection kept dropping cause people didnt like it.
"its not an accessible album" aka you dont like it but dont want to admit its bad. Plus it had 3 singles post release.

If that flopped I cant imagine what they think about mr morale 😭

Who said I didn’t like Morale? I think it’s a great album. It’s just obviously not as accessible as GKMC and DAMN.
Projection kept dropping because it wasn’t accessible, not because people didn’t like it.
Y’all have to remove from your minds the thinking that numbers = quality. That’s never been the case and never will be

and its still selling about 200k a month currently, prob 4x plat in 1 year from its release
edit: even a lil more than 200k/month actually, it did 450k from Jan 1, 2024 to Feb 29, 2024

Okay DAMN by Kendrick dropped in 2017 and his last album underperformed.
What's the excuse there?
Queen flopped
She was able to muster her fanbase this time around and sell some more
@dreamville @thegreatdivine @roselei curious to hear y’all thoughts about the “quality/quantity” topic

I said Queen flopped. Her fanbase isn't the reason why PF2 was successful. She was churning out ACTUAL hits for a year then dropped an album people loved.
Drake can do the same if he ever decides to make good music again

He just dropped his 3rd project in 2 years and did 400k first week not a physical in sight
He doesn't care to do large extravagant numbers anymore. He did it before, the 1m first week still hasn't been beat by anyone in his genre
Yall more worried about his numbers than he is lol

It's always "X doesn't care about sales anymore" when the numbers start dropping
Can't do physicals first week when you submit your album the night of release.

Sure it’s low for Drake, but 400K off streaming alone in 2023 is ridiculously impressive. I don’t get how it’s an L

If people loved Pink Friday 2, how it already out of the Top 20 selling albums in the country?
