She's not an album seller in terms of pop artist she's closer to Rihanna who infamously had low first weeks than a Taylor Swift.

Rih never had an album first week do more than 250k but she at the same time never had an album bewides her debut to not have atleast one number 1.

That's just how pop is sometimes people are just single artist

Yeah but why isn't she an album seller? what separates Ariana and Taylor in terms of the huge disparity in their streaming numbers? surely they're extremely similar audiences

Taylor’s fanbase is way bigger and almost a cult. And they always buy CDs/vinyls (multiple times if necessary). Ariana has more casual listeners like Rihanna.

I don't really care. I just want to TikTok's influence on music destroyed.

  • Mar 13, 2024

Yeah. You can draw a straight line regarding the deterioration of music quality lately straight to TikTok and how much its influence on music has grown in the last 5 years.

if you value longevity then Carnival is the biggest rap hit in years at this rate surely, maybe since Sicko Mode?

i think the song's terrible so I don't get it

It’s been in the Top 3 for four straight weeks and shows no signs of slowing down at all. Its’ streams have only gone up week after week

Lovin on Me has performed a lot better and I don't see y'all giving it any credit for how well it's performed.

    I don't really care about #1 tbh, it doesn't mean s***

the song's at 2.6m streams a day on US Spotify a whole month after release though, that's insanely impressive and barely any songs across any genres have managed that

Lovin On Me will probably have better billboard performance tbh but streaming wise I can't think of anything else that was still doing 2.6m a day on US Spotify a whole month after release, these aren't normal numbers

im bored so.. a month after release:
    The Box: 2.7m
    Carnival: 2.6m
    Paint The Town Red: 1.7m
    Rich Flex: 1.3m
    Lovin On Me: 1.3m
    IDGAF: 1m
    Jimmy Cooks: 0.9m
    I Know?: 0.8m
    FE!N: 0.7m

the box the only one I can think of after looking into it
