Do you guys think we'll see anyone take Scorpion's record as the most streamed album in the US first week anytime soon? It has been almost 6 years now and no one's come close except Drake w/ CLB 2.5 years ago

It did 745m, Midnights by Taylor did 549m so I doubt her next album comes close either. I can't see any of these newer artists ever hitting half of 745m

with how weird music's become I can't see anyone hitting it this decade, if taylor can't then no one can

Taylor’s gained a lot more popular now than even in 2022. I think she’ll get a crack at this in April.

dont think it will happen for a long time tbh

issue with taylor is she relies a lot on the pre-sales, where she racks up over a million sales in digital pre-downloads, these people are less likely to stream the album because of it and she relies a lot on bundles/vinyls too, if she made her album streaming ONLY for the first week then I think she could beat it, but she would have to do that within the next 3 years because her numbers wont last forever

and drake is no longer following his "success formula" of an album and seems to be releasing whatever he wants which is cool, so he wll most likely just coast around FATD numbers at 500mill for his next studio album release, which aint a diss cus 500mill is still massive, a number no rapper has touched other than him, but still a LONG way off of 750mill

to put it into perspective, and this aint a diss at trav, but UTOPIA was definitely a massive success for him and so was Astroworld, absolutely massive albums that pushed him into the debates of being top 3 commercially easily, yet Astroworld "only" did 350mill and Utopia "only" did 330mill

i think it will get harder and harder for any artist to ever capture the masses again to hit 750mil, the ADHD tiktok brain wont allow it, but like i said taylor can do it if she made her album streaming only

In no way would I ever imply that FATD isn't bigger than Vultures when Drake's still the biggest rapper out while Kanye has the WOAT image/PR of any music act rn and had Apple f***ing with him.

I was just saying that FATD didn't stay number 1 for a long time. Utopia was pretty much the only rap album last year that stayed number 1 for numerous weeks.

Utopia really only managed that because of the $5 vinyls Travis had on sale to boost his numbers for the first 4 weeks. Once the vinyls ran out, the album's numbers dipped hard to reflect how it was actually being consumed.

It dropped out of the top 10 after 11 weeks and hasn't re-entered since.

Taylor’s easily blowing past 600m w/ tortured poets. 750m is far-fetched but if there’s anyone besides Drake who could match that, it’s her.

this is likely her last chance tho cause once the tour is over her numbers will stabilize again

Yep. Taylor's going to have the biggest album of this year.

Beyonce might snap AOTY this time around though.

The IFPI Global Album Award is calculated according to an album’s worldwide sales across streaming, download and physical music formats during the calendar year.

    2020 - BTS
    2021 - Adele
    2022 - Bad Bunny
