Your reading comprehension is poor dude. It’s using all of those metrics to measure the consumption of the music

My reading comprehension is not poor, you’re just delusional

It’s like talking to a wall

The anti-physical media movement in recent years is so weird and dystopian man. Y’all can’t claim to care about the art but think that everything should be digital

Music itself is intangible. We are moving into a digital society more and more every year. There’s nothing more fire to me than artists being forward thinking and creating with and adapting to the tools of their time.

Kanye did the open casket to the CD in 2013. Drake is simply a modern artist creating with the tools of his era and time

You can be on streaming as well as still doing physical media though. It doesn’t have to be one with the death of the other. Art should always be physically maintained, not just in music either. This digital s*** won’t be forever, we don’t own anything we consume.

Is streaming super convenient and cheap and easy to use? Sure, but this s*** is not sustainable whatsoever and definitely will not last forever

You conveniently left out that second part of Billboard’s own words:

(blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums, and streaming equivalent albums)

    It’s not JUST streaming consumption.

    wtf are track equivalent albums

Physical music should exist but it shouldn’t count the same as digital avenues of consumption imo. I understand why it does though. It’s hard to adjust and scale plus physical media helps make the numbers look better and brings in cash.

Ultimately it’s up to the person who’s looking at the data to be able to understand what they are looking at.

Like yeah objectively Trav outsold Drake but deep down we all know he didn’t have the hotter album. And there’s nothing wrong with that either

i love these taylor swift capers ITT who know nothing about numbers are consistently talk about taylors GLOBAL streaming numbers on SPOTIFY ONLY

yes. taylor swift is a bigger global artist. yes taylor swift is a bigger artist on SPOTIFY.

drake gets 60% of ALL of his streams from Apple Music only.

so for example if drake had 10 billion AMERICAN streams on Spotify in a year, that means he got in total 25 billion AMERICAN streams overall (40% of 25 billion is 10 billion leaving 15 billion which is 60% coming from Apple Music).

its been 6 years and they still cant wrap their heads around the fact that yes, Apple Music is smaller by market share but drake dominates it so hard that the majority of his streams come from there

also pop acts flop on apple music HARD. they literally ONLY have spotify numbers

  • Nov 2, 2023

Travis had vinyls included in his first week sales that the consumers didn’t even get lmao. Think about that for a second
Bro scammed his own fans just to dress his numbers up

Taylor is the biggest artist on the platform with 400+ songs over 1B streams

Drake is the biggest on the platform with 0

    Agreed!
