And the same can be said for how hard it is get a Diamond album in the streaming era. Only 1 album released since 2015 has gone Diamond and that's Adele's 25. Scorpion and Views are two of the biggest albums of the streaming era and it'll take Views at least 10 years to reach Diamond and it'll take Scorpion at least 8 years to do the same. For comparison, Usher's Confessions album did 8M units in 9 months and sold over 10M units in a year and that album dropped in 2004. Taylor Swift's Midnights album debuted with 1.5M units and just crossed 6M units after 53 weeks, and that's one of the biggest albums ever.
A bulk of the 100+ songs that have been certified Diamond since 2015 weren't actually released in the streaming era, they just reached the Diamond mark in the streaming era, but the bulk of their sold units were digital sales. It still doesn't make it easy to do. Nothing is easy.
Again, nobody said it was easy. It’s just factually easier to do since the inception of streaming. The numbers back that up.
Yes, I understand that a lot of the Diamond songs were not released in the streaming era, but the point is that they would have never gone Diamond if streaming didn’t become a thing. They crossed that 10 Million threshold with the help of streaming. But it’s also true that there are a lot of streaming-era songs going Diamond relatively quickly in comparison to how hard it was pre-streaming. Examples include:
Old Town Road - ten months
God’s Plan - 1 year
Closer - 2 years
rockstar - 2 years
Shape of You - 2 years
Sunflower - 2 years
Perfect - 2 years
Congratulations - 3 years
The Hills - 4 years
See You Again - 4 years
I can keep going, but pre-streaming it was extremely unlikely for that many songs to be going Diamond that quickly. There have been more songs released since 2015 that have went Diamond than there are total songs that went Diamond from 1999-2015.
And regarding the albums, it’s not like prior to streaming albums were going Diamond literally left and right. There are only 92 Diamond certified albums ever. The only reason albums like Scorpion and Views haven’t gone Diamond yet is because people aren’t mass buying individual copies of albums anymore because of streaming, but they definitely will be Diamond soon.

Somethings cooked
I know but it’s not enough for this
Why she wasn’t moving this for a few years until she figured out a way to fit with the new system better? She was doing underwhelming numbers for a few albums until Midnights

shes has not really done any underwhelming units though, 'Folklore' did 850k+ first week and is the 5th or so best selling album worldwide this decade, and 4th or so album projected to become diamond this decade.
the other projects are: evermore, which did 300k but was released like 3 months immediately after Folklore, and a re-recording
and then there is also red TV which also did 650K or so which is still one of the highest in this decade
Taylor has every outlet working for her, white pop artist, rabid fanbase, hitting every bundle and vinyl edition, cd edition etc + streaming

She’s been releasing vinyl variants one at a time and for a limited amount of time so her fans feel pressured to buy one (most likely two or more because then one they preferred more is revealed after they already bought one).
Think she’s also doing like 4 different cassettes?
Plus her popularity is at an all-time high with dating Travis Kelce + her Eras Tour film + the nostalgia of 1989.

What bundles?
Wasn't midnights bundled with singles and stuff
No I think Folklore was her last album to have bundles before they got rid of them
Midnights had 1 box set exclusive for Capital One members
1989 just physicals

A standard version and Target exclusive CD is pretty common, only odd one is the last one which was only available at 2 shows.
Other two are only on digital
Those are CDs not bundles tho lmao

1989 is 12 Times Platinum. It's undercertified.
Taylor's other 2010's albums are undercertified as well.
Midnights and Folklore are already past 5 times Platinum as well though I'm sure Morgan Wallen might beat her in getting a Diamond plaque this decade.
Guy called CDs... bundles
Drake what have you done!
before long, they'll say album sales are gimmicky tactics all along. streaming is how albums are supposed to be counted, like the all of the decades before streaming was even a thing

Most of them are outdated, but officially that's their certifications currently.
