Top Artists (Digital Singles)
only 1 artist from the streaming era even with it apparently being much easier now
and his career is basically dead even tho he only debutted like 7 years ago

Finally. I lowkey disliked how long it took for the Big 3 to update their certs.
Now, we just need Kendrick and Cole to update their certs.
I remember hearing that Humble and No Role Modelz were Diamond eligible back in 2020.

Streaming has a double sided effect imho.
It makes it easier to blow up fast but also harder to maintain longevity or keep people's attention on you.

For Kendrick, I know HUMBLE. should be Diamond-eligible. GKMC/DAMN. should be around 6x Platinum eligible. For J. Cole, Middle Child & No Role Modelz should be Diamond-eligible. 2014FHD should be 6-7x Platinum eligible.
Scorpion and Views will both be diamond within the next 2 years if I had to guess
Scorpion was such an iconic imperial era. It was different. Every thot on earth was shaking it to Drake.
Scorpion has moved over 8M units in the US and CLB has moved 4M in the US over, don't know why they were certified 7x Platinum and 3x Platinum but maybe that'll be corrected in a few months.

You have to actually make music people like to replay
It's deemed "easy" tho lol

More like 4-5 but yeah.

Not necessarily.
We've seen artists like Ice Spice blow up literally due to Tik Tok plays, memes, catchy singles/features, and virality but you can tell she isn't built for longevity like that.
The Box by Roddy also dominated streams, sales, and Tik Tok and made Roddy seem like one of the top dogs but it only took 2 years for Roddy to come crashing and burning after losing momentum.
You seem to be misunderstanding my whole point. Streaming makes it easier for people to blow up due to catchy singles, memes, or virality but it takes harder work to maintain that attention or fanbase compared to the past due to how decentralized the media is today.

What I posted coincides with your last paragraph
Drake really the goat man. Wtf when its all said and done he’ll have an unbelievable amount of diamond plaques. We’ve never seen anything like this before. Cool to witness and appreciate. I’m happy i’ve always been on the side of giving him his flowers. Lets appreciate that he kept the industry alive.
drake’s gonna have like 12 new diamond certifications at the same time in a few years. that’s gotta be some kind of record right?

Yup most ever i’m pretty sure. I think Posty holds the record with 8 and drake currently has 6. So when that happens it won’t even be close.

But what you said had nothing to do with blowing up which was my main point lol.
Everything you said had to do with maintaining longevity which is what I said streaming made harder.

He has 5 now, but there's also:
No Guidance
Look Alive
Yes Indeed
Going Bad
Work
Which are all Diamond-eligible at this point. That makes 10. He's also got like 11 other songs that have sold at least 7M units in the US with others climbing fast. I'd say by the end of the decade, he'll have well over 20 Diamond-eligible songs.

I mean...Eminem just outsold Led Zeppelin in total sales not too long ago and is now the 10th best selling artist ever.
Eminem was the sales Juggernaut in hip hop before Drake took over. Congrats to both rappers though.

At this point, Diamond certifications are becoming trivial...
Not even hating on Drake. I already felt like this when all those Post Malone songs and other post-2016 hits got Diamond certifications suddenly, after just two or three years
