All as excuses and that's all they are — excuses. There's no "nuance" to be had. Even you were projecting upwards of 400k as the debut figure for his latest album when it was announced. That would have been well over what Un Verano Sin Ti debuted with so how is it that when the album dropped and started bleeding streams and the first HDD projection numbers made it clear it wouldn't debut anywhere close to where Un Verano Sin Ti debuted, the excuses started flying?

That's when you started bringing up Spotify Global numbers and insisting that now, we couldn't discuss Bad Bunny's US numbers as a way to measure his popularity because that's insanity because he's a global artist lmao.

So, the guy who again, sold out an arena tour and a stadium tour in the US last year, had the biggest album in the US last year and was the biggest artist in the US last year, can all of a sudden no longer be judged off his US numbers because he's a latin artist. That's something you wouldn't be saying if Bad Bunny's album debuted with 500k units. And that's where your excuses become embarrassing.

At no point did I even say Bad Bunny's album "flopped." I've only ever used the term "underperformed." I'm also not mocking his numbers in any way. All I'm asking for is for the excuses to stop and for people to simply admit his latest album underperformed and not for the myriad of reasons/excuses they brought up but y'all would rather jump over silly hoops with the excuses than do that lmao. Which I then followed up by saying that two things can be true: Bad Bunny’s new album had an underwhelming sales week in the US, and he is still a global superstar, arguably one of the five biggest artists in the world right now.

The nuance is that Bad Bunny’s US numbers and his global stardom are mutually exclusive ideas. He doesn’t need to have a crazy sales week in the USA to be considered one of the biggest artists on the planet, because he is that huge in other parts of the world.

Yes, the album underperformed in the US, full stop. No one is making excuses for that. We’re just saying his US sales figures do not define his global status, since that’s what users ITT were trying to posit.
