Celebrating Drake's success = s***ting on other artists now? Good to know 📝
Niggas were here being fake Kenny Chesney stans JUST to s*** on Drake
Nope. That surely never happened. Imagining things....

I'm actually more interested in seeing how many streams the album pulls. DAMN. did 340M US streams back in 2017 and the highest streams for a non-Drake album is Tha Carter V, which did 433M US streams back in 2018. I really hope Kendrick surpasses that so I can update my thread lol. He's like the only artist outside Drake who should be able to.

🚨🚨🚨TGD being a Kendrick hater 🚨🚨🚨
Same ones who celebrate whenever another rapper breaks a record or puts up numbers but Drake fans shouldn't celebrate Drake's success because...?
They were planning on using trash bunny album sales to s*** on us and lost😭😭

They made MULTIPLE threads about that s*** but then act like Drake stans just blindly attack people lmao. They'll never acknowledge this.
TGD really KTT kryptonite lmao

I wouldn't call Bad Bunny trash but they had no issue using his success last year to talk s*** about Drake's numbers and now that his latest album isn't performing as well, they're ready with all the excuses.
You're a smart guy, I know that
Can you explain how this originated as a Kendrick hate thread pls
By OP specifically
if i have X artist and i go online, and i see fans hyped up and absolutely stoked for his incoming album, and there’s some post that says “he’s gonna sell one million first week!”
and then i turn around and cherrypick this post (that isn’t even representative of X artists’ fans at all, lol) and make another post saying “X fans are delusional, he isn’t going to sell one million.”
what would you call that? is blatantly picking one dude’s tweet and extrapolating it onto an entire fanbase, not blatantly dishonest, and obviously motivated by a disdain for X artist?
i don’t see how it isn’t, this entire thread’s premise was based on a single tweet, in an effort to undermine Kendrick’s return to music and create a negative narrative around it just in general
op literally eagerly waited for the numbers to come out just to say “I told you so, haha!” based on a single, if not at best a handful of tweets, of people thinking Kendrick was going to do big numbers

Nowhere in the original OP was there disdain, that's something you made up on your own and placed onto the post
Original OP stated that expectations should be simmered down because of where the sales landscape was at at the time and gave a more realistic prediction in their opinion and the number ended up still coming in under their prediction...
Nowhere in that is a hate thread lol

i see what you saying but you cherry picking. It wasn't just a random tweet saying he selling a million. The whole consensus before he dropped was he was gonna redo damn numbers snd outsell Drake's last effort. And Divine just pointed that out.
The backlash from that is how this became the sales thread
Now y'all use other artists' numbers to "troll" Drake stans but when Drake stans do the same thing, they're "bitter" and "obsessed." Funny how that works lmao.

It's unfortunate KTT2 wasn't here when Scorpion was set to drop but I was on other music forums telling people that despite the big singles, Drake wouldn't come close to doing 1M first week like he did with Views because I didn't want them dragging him when it didn't happen. I saw the massive decline in pure (especially digital) sales from 2016-2017 and knew it wouldn't stop and knowing Drake wouldn't drop with physicals ready to go, I knew he wouldn't come close to a 1M debut. That's all I did here with Kendrick and I did it because I know how the industry changes and how that affects the numbers artists are able to put up per time but I guess I was hating on Drake back then as well lmao.

That was not the consensus at all lmao, y’all see two or three posts/tweets and think those are the sentiments of the entire fanbase

if i go out of my way to pick out certain tweets of a particular artist and their new album coming out, and they’re all saying “wow, this album is going to be generational!”
and i sit there and i say “They’re delusional. (or we can even neuter this and say—) This artist doesn’t have the X factor to make a generational album.”
the very notion that i sought out tweets in itself to make a thread based around how i think it’s not going to meet expectations, you aren’t going to think that’s a little strange or bad faith motivated at all, from the outset?
you can pick out enough social media posts to build a narrative for any artist if you really wanted to, the question for me is, why would someone do something like that?
in between the constant disparaging of Mr Morale as an album, and the constant snipes at Kendrick for being an adversary or whatever corny nonsense to Drake, i don’t think it’s a jump to paint this as originally a Kendrick hate thread at all

Especially when certain Drake stans never “temper expectations” in their own fanbase, niggas was in here before the album drop convinced he was gonna occupy the entire Top 10 on the Hot 100

No one wants to admit they thought he'd do 600k-700k because of DAMN now that the numbers weren't even close to that
This thread was pretty fair + objective and ultimately was spot on
Anyone who's mad at op because Kendrick didn't sell as much hasn't been paying attention to the way Billboard has changed streaming the past 5 years
That was not the consensus at all lmao, y’all see two or three posts/tweets and think those are the sentiments of the entire fanbase
On KTT that definitely was the consensus stop it. You saying everyone on ktt was saying he was gonna sell 300k
We have to start collectively ignoring the obvious weirdos in this thread PRAYING and REACHING for something to s*** on drakes dominance. Yes the majority thought kendricks 5 year insanely anticipated album was going to outsell drake. It wasn’t one tweet it was all over.

Go to the first few pages of this thread and see how many people legit thought he'd at least match DAMN's numbers off sheer hype without any consideration to how the music marketplace had changed since 2017 in regards to pure sales. That's why I explained why it wouldn't happen but I guess that makes me a Kendrick hater 🤷

yeah, ‘cept the thing is Kendrick’s fanbase isn’t even the type to hype up and talk about sales like that in the first place
they’re constantly stereotyped as “real hip hop fans” and “pretentious” or whatever the hell else, i don’t see where sales stanning fits into this picture for the token boy of rap hipsterism
y’all need to pick a narrative, you can’t have your cake and eat it too
Also who tf are we comparing right now. Do you not understand this man said “People talking bout when this gonna be repeated.. wtf bro i’m one away from michael BEAT IT.” Then went on to get the record with that song. That is EASILY the hardest flex ever put on wax. No one’s close. Man is that good can’t even hate. Drake the goat numbers and quality wise. Let us win in peace 🙏🏻

He got 7. You are shooting for a point that's not there

Its insane. And its the same few people in here that come around every Drake cycle. But 🤫 lol
You the nigga thay was Just saying bad bunny was gonna do 350k.
By next month your ass gonna be telling a whole different story
