Another thing I missed is that a big difference between major acts who develop dedicated fanbases and major acts who only get most people to care when it’s radio single time is how much their hits are specific to them lyrically and sonically. Look at the megastars with cult fanbases; their hits most of the time are specific to their brand or some sort of story. With the other type, their hits have no specification and could seemingly be performed or written by anyone
