Streaming may lie, pure sales can lie with the advent of bundles, but the one thing that will never lie and will always be the litmus test for how popular an artist truly is: ticket sales.
You can’t fake getting butts in seats
which is why I continuously say The Weeknd is a far more global star than Drake

Well yeah…melody and god-tier vocals translates much better than rap lyrics
yes they do

It sounded to me the guy was asking if the physical copies will affect what Travis songs do on the hot 100 this week. So for that one song it will.
You’re
You have the gall to think you’re above people talking about Taylor Swift in a music sales thread
stopped the taylor swift convo. got what i wanted
You ain’t never met a swifty? Most of them don’t even know about this online discourse aside from the Kanye s***. For a lot of her fans, they genuinely connect with her and feel like she saved their lives type s***
if taylor saved your life... nah im not gonna say it
if taylor saved your life... nah im not gonna say it
now why u had to quote that man

this is extremely biased towards white popstars though no? Look at videos of Ed Sheeran (especially him, considering his music isn't that popular anymore) and Taylor Swift concerts. They're family affairs, people literally take their whole ass families. it's very common for 10 year old kids to go and 60 year old grandparents
meanwhile you rarely ever see families at Drake/Lil Baby/Travis type concerts
Also I don't see how it doesn't lie considering Ed Sheeran is selling out whole ass stadiums in the US with ease right now meanwhile his last album completely flopped
S*** I'd be willing to bet that BTS could sell out a bigger tour in the US than Drake and The Weeknd right now. There's no way you'd argue BTS are bigger than Drake/THe Weeknd surely
Why aren't streams a better metric? I think the best way to tell the size of an artist is to check their first day streams, that measures the pure hype and excitement. But I think we probably need to separate an artist's actual popularity with their music's popularity. Some artists (BTS, One Direction, Harry Styles) type will always be more popular just cause of how they are vs someone like Lil Baby
Yet she can sell out the Tokyo dome on consecutive nights. 50,000 capacity each show. What was drakes last show in Asia?
In what universe is Drake a bigger artist than Taylor? There is a whole world that exists outside of English speaking countries.
Ed Sheeran can also sell out those huge arenas across the world, I'd bet he'd sell way more tickets than The Weeknd and Drake combined even, he'd dominate Asia.
Is Ed Sheeran in 2023 a bigger artist than Drake and The Weeknd? bare in mind his 18 song album released 4 months ago has only 409m spotify streams.
*I'd say Taylor overtook Drake again around 2019/2020 btw, I just think it's silly to use tours this way
which is why I continuously say The Weeknd is a far more global star than Drake
Honestly I think drake could easily do stadiums he just don’t want to because he lazy as hell, but yea weeknd def bigger

Bro streams are easy to manipulate, you really can’t manipulate ppl getting off their ass and sitting down to watch you. Streams are flawed metric to measure success because if we went just on that lil baby and nba youngboy are bigger then beyonce and we all know that ain’t true, I agree there’s some bias going on against rappers and how kid friendly popstars are but look at The Weeknd? That nigga ain’t kid friendly at all and he can still do it
Now I hope trav does this stadium tour and it’s successful because then it will break this myth that only family friendly superstars cen sell out stadiums

The Weeknd is literally in a very successful stadium tour right now?
Kids pay $10 for unlimited background music to listen to while playing Fortnite, they'll listen to whatever the algo feeds them with.

This is the one thing these monstrous white supremacist pop stans understand better than your average rap fan. 99% of rappers are NOT popular outside the Anglosphere and even in the UK, Aus, etc. they are less than A-list.
Meltdown can't even get physical boost cause it's not on the damn CD or vinyl
Credit the boy and it might go #1
if taylor saved your life... nah im not gonna say it
Just telling you how it is, a lot of musicians are that for a lot of people
my old workmate was a big swifty and she would put me on to why she felt that way and I understood once she broke it down. She really connects with her chosen audience, similar life experiences etc.

Travis is pretty family friendly. His lyrics are inoffensive bc no one knows what the hell he’s talking about
Travis the future
