this is extremely biased towards white popstars though no? Look at videos of Ed Sheeran (especially him, considering his music isn't that popular anymore) and Taylor Swift concerts. They're family affairs, people literally take their whole ass families. it's very common for 10 year old kids to go and 60 year old grandparents
meanwhile you rarely ever see families at Drake/Lil Baby/Travis type concerts
Also I don't see how it doesn't lie considering Ed Sheeran is selling out whole ass stadiums in the US with ease right now meanwhile his last album completely flopped
S*** I'd be willing to bet that BTS could sell out a bigger tour in the US than Drake and The Weeknd right now. There's no way you'd argue BTS are bigger than Drake/THe Weeknd surely
Why aren't streams a better metric? I think the best way to tell the size of an artist is to check their first day streams, that measures the pure hype and excitement. But I think we probably need to separate an artist's actual popularity with their music's popularity. Some artists (BTS, One Direction, Harry Styles) type will always be more popular just cause of how they are vs someone like Lil Baby

In what universe is Drake a bigger artist than Taylor? There is a whole world that exists outside of English speaking countries.
Ed Sheeran can also sell out those huge arenas across the world, I'd bet he'd sell way more tickets than The Weeknd and Drake combined even, he'd dominate Asia.
Is Ed Sheeran in 2023 a bigger artist than Drake and The Weeknd? bare in mind his 18 song album released 4 months ago has only 409m spotify streams.
*I'd say Taylor overtook Drake again around 2019/2020 btw, I just think it's silly to use tours this way

Bro streams are easy to manipulate, you really can’t manipulate ppl getting off their ass and sitting down to watch you. Streams are flawed metric to measure success because if we went just on that lil baby and nba youngboy are bigger then beyonce and we all know that ain’t true, I agree there’s some bias going on against rappers and how kid friendly popstars are but look at The Weeknd?
