Hip hop will NOT be cooked. Y’all not even rap fans lmao just pop fans faking the funk since drake happens to rap.
Hip hop been cooked goofy
You need a recap of 2023 sans drake?
Who is carrying rap when drake is done?
It’s sure not gonna be the midget I’ll tell you that much
people were pretty genuinely excited for both films and wanted them to do good and everyone accepted oppenheimer wouldn’t top barbs
people get a lot more competitive over music and kind’ve off in their corners so if 2 A listers dropped the same day folks would take fun out of it
yea tbh If two a listers dropped same week and same genre thats askin for issues 🤣
do y’all think there could be a barbenheimer event in music
i think music fans are way too aggressive for that to happen imo
Music isn't hands on like that anymore because very few people buy music. You don't have to go outside to listen to two huge mainstream albums in one day.
Barbenheimer was cool because the two movies were wildly different but united demographics by being marketed as an absurdist complementary experience you had to go to the theater for. Music listening is sadly not that communal.
Drake did own the 2010s but you’re moving the goalposts. You initially said that all these people (Bad Bunny, Post, etc) are not taking Drake’s sales throne yet currently Taylor is actually the one in it.
Real mfers know Taylor's hype is manufactured, fraudulent, frabricated. She is a bundler as well. Her albums come packaged with all sorts of accessories to inflate sales. It's been like this since reputation maybe even before. You can hardly name any hot songs from Taylor in the past 5 years compared to drake.

how come she selling out stadiums like crazy
lol
6 nights at sofi stadium... she is a different breed
Idc about numbers but I’m actually glad Trav bundles with merch. A big part of his cultural foot print is what he’s done with Jordan brand and in hype culture (the good and bad that comes with it). It doesn’t mean much in terms of music culture or maybe musical impact, but it’s a big part of his appeal as a creative so to me it’s a no brainer to bundle with merch. Why wouldn’t he? You know what I mean? It’s a big part of his enterprise.
It would actually be moronic specifically for him not to do it.
Well Billboard is supposed to measure music consumption not streetwear hype

131 stadium tour dates btw

I’m not even a fan of Taylor Swift, but how can you be this loud and wrong?
She’s arguably the biggest musician on planet Earth right now
Why so many people here on KTT are like "I don't hear x's music where I live therefore they are not popular" or "I hear y's music all the time so they are the BIGGEST artist in the WORLD"

Why so many people here on KTT are like "I don't hear x's music where I live therefore they are not popular" or "I hear y's music all the time so they are the BIGGEST artist in the WORLD"

Way too many people on here don’t understand how to look at the world outside of their own bubble
I personally hear Taylor Swift’s music a total of zero minutes per day because I don’t listen to her and I don’t have any close friends who listen to her.
But she’s obviously and clearly the biggest artist in the world right now and it’s not even debatable
Posts around here always this sad ?
it's just numbers.
Only happens when a big album releases. Folks aren’t in here arguing Drake vs Taylor Swift unless another rapper’s sales are underperforming
Well Billboard is supposed to measure music consumption not streetwear hype
I hear you. I’m just thinking about Travis Scott specifically as an entity, it would make all the sense in the world to maximize sales this way bc it’s a big part of his brand and consumer base.

Just because YOU can’t or I can’t doesn’t mean there aren’t 100s of thousands of people that can. We can’t know everything and how big it actually is. Just look at K-pop or even Bollywood which are way bigger than most artists for their region and even worldwide

I don’t think anyone would argue that it isn’t smart or that it doesn’t work. They just think it’s lame

Literally.
For example, I bet less than 300 daily KTT2 users are actively listening to Karol G, but she’s pulling numbers like this:
People on here need to realize there’s an entire music world that exists outside of their own personal bubbles
I don’t think anyone would argue that it isn’t smart or that it doesn’t work. They just think it’s lame
Yeah it could be smart but comes off more desperate than anything and if Travis is really a marketing genius worried about his image he would recognize that

I can see that. I guess I see it from both sides so I avoid conflating the two.
This is fishy. Taylor's albums since reputation have all been underwhelming. They all have like one or two big songs along with the major single while the remaining tracklist flops. She isn't fooling anyone with her bundles and physicals obsessed fans that buy only to make her seem bigger of an artist than in actuality.
And her big songs like look what you made me do, ME, and antihero get ran into the ground after a couple of weeks. She got lucky with folklore. Drake literally just went #2 with search and rescue among all his other hits and yet she's bigger? Okay

Ngl that be mad hype

Are those same fans spending hundreds of dollars on concert tickets at 131 sold out stadium tour dates across the globe for the same reason?
