My post that spawned this discussion wasn’t relegating it to how many artists in country individually have broad reach, it was to say that country inherently has that appeal - which rap and pop has to go out of its way to have. Country doesn’t have to go out of its way to appeal to middle aged, college aged, teenage guys or gals, it always appeals to all those quadrants because it’s country - without conditions. Even the least popular country artists can have this appeal to every age

This does not apply to hiphop rn or pop as genres. They are strictly young leaning genres

To double back to this yea this the real issue, it’s not that hip hop fans don’t buy albums I’m mean s*** look at kendrick Lamar. it’s just the artist don’t care to make a vinyl or a CD anymore

Adele is an adult contemporary artist who makes pop soul influenced by artists from the mid 20th century (speaking of country, one of the things she did with 21 - the album that really crossed her over with more ages - was take on more country influence funny enough). Post, Doja and Laroi are narrowly young skewing in their audience and appeal

I think what we seeing is other genres catching up to hip hop when it comes to the streaming game, that was always hip hops edge it had over the other genres in the 2010s but now it seem like pop, country, and reggaton are closing the gap when it comes to that
