Astroworld was really big, I feel like it's hard to tell where Trav is now. He's still a really big brand but I don't know if the music will go over the same this time round.
I think Kendrick and Ye are still bigger than Lil Baby. Ye has about 20 million more monthly listeners on Spotify. When Baby put out his last single it seemed like people didn't even notice
Stop using Spotify Monthly listeners as a way to guage the biggest artists. It doesn't mean s***.
If you're only talking US that's fair enough. Ye is bigger than Cole to me for sure though. So that would make it Drake Kendrick Baby Ye Trav in some order.
As I say I think it's hard to tell how people feel about Trav right now
And also I don't know if you include Doja. Cardi is another one people might include but Idk if her music is actually that popular compared to her socials/brand
Cardi is up there to probably bigger than Cole and Ye tbh.

It seems to be the number the labels look at though? So it must count for something
it's good that it includes their whole catalogue too, not just a specific hot song or album.
And Spotify is the main streaming platform. People over exaggerate how close Apple/Amazon are to catching up.
the only problem with it is the amount of playlist/radio/algorhytmic listen that goes on on Spotify. But then that's an issue with literally all streaming and sale equivalent stats right now

She could be. But as she never drops any music it's hard to tell lol
Doja is definitely bigger than Cole right now from what I can tell. But she is more pop than the other people we're talking about. She does rap on a lot of songs though tbf

Dojas last album was pop so I don't think she should be in convo right now.

It is the most important stat to gauge popularity worldwide at this moment tho. Doesnt say much bout popularity over a longer time tho

She is rapping on Woman and Streets though which are two of her biggest songs right now
it's hard to know where the line is these days. she doesn't rap as much as someone like Nicki, Ye or Drake though
320 with double album rules is flop territory right?
not a double album

at the very least it's the number that all the labels look at
I'm interested to know why people think it doesn't mean anything
Because tbf some stats Spotify throw out are bullshit
320 with double album rules is flop territory right?
Isnt a double album and those rules based on playing time? This album seems too short to be seen as a double album. You mean the doubling of the sales right?

I mean the album overall, Doja does rap but Planet Her album as a whole was pop. It was even in pop category for grammys. Grammys categories are strict Beerbongs and scorp both were disqualified from rap category.

it has to be over 100 minutes but thats for RIAA (certs) bilbord doesn't do anything for double albums

To show you how inaccurate and useless it is, here's a list of the top 10 artists with the most Spotify monthly listeners:
1. Ed Sheeran โ 84.31M
2. Justin Bieber โ 79.66M
3. The Weeknd โ 76.59M
4. Dua Lipa โ 66.08M
5. Harry Styles โ 64.92M
6. Coldplay โ 57.53M
7. Imagine Dragons โ 56.79M
8. Drake โ 55.82M
9. Taylor Swift โ 55.40M
10. Doja Cat โ 54.88M
Here's a list of the most streamed artists on Spotify (based on actual consumption):
Can you see the discrepancy between between both lists?
It is the most important stat to gauge popularity worldwide at this moment tho. Doesnt say much bout popularity over a longer time tho
The only list that should matter is the list of the most streamed artists on Spotify daily and the monthly listeners list doesn't accurately reflect that.

so how are Spotify getting to that number then? out of interest
and this list makes a case for Ye being top 3 even more
320 with double album rules is flop territory right?
wouldnt call it a flop but a bit underwhelming
People see "monthly listeners" and think "most streamed artists on Spotify monthly" when it doesn't mean that at all lol. That's how tweets like this went viral last year and had people thinking it meant Doja Cat was pulling more daily streams on Spotify than Drake when in reality:

The Weeknd had the most monthly listeners for most of 2020 but when the list of the most streamed artists on Spotify dropped:

JID had like 50 million monthly listeners because of that Imagine Dragons song and people tried saying he was bigger than J. Cole because of it
320 with double album rules is flop territory right?
Not a double album, not a flop, I think under 300K would be a flop/L. Think this just "okay"
Drake has multiple albums that top all of Hov's best. He doesn't have a NWTS or Take Care. Actually even Drake's worst aren't as bad as Hov. Scorpion and More Life are much better than Kingdom Come, Magna Carta, BP3, etc
Both are top 5 and I rank hov higher because of his accomplishments but Drake is getting more and more achievements and still dropping classics this far in his run. If he's still this good now I can't wait for his 4:44 late career album
"Drake has multiple albums that top all of Hov's best."
