"Mid" is so overused I'm starting to wish people would start calling everything trash again

When people call something mid, I think they're just saying an album is forgettable. If you can say an album is good or bad, then you feel strongly about it. If you can't say either, then it's just boring/forgettable or "Mid"

Mid went from something that’s okay or whatever to something being terrible . I understand vocabulary changes but it’s so annoying

I just think she could have had a career similar to SZA, now I think she's gonna be stuck in this weird place where she doesn't have many diehard fans especially with her weird antics on social media in the past year

btw I think this is the same mistake The Weeknd's made, even though he's huge, his album sales have suffered in the last few yrs compared to others and I really do believe it's because he's pushing too much into white audiences rather than pushing into black audiences more.

I think what you’re trying to articulate with The Weeknd and Doja goes back to a point I’ve made about part of the psychology behind the general public supporting an album (which is its own psychology and needs to be talked about more) - appealing to the taste of groups that look like you. I don’t know if it really applies to Doja and The Weeknd as much for several reasons, but it is a thing. It ties into the social aspect of songs

I think it’s safe to say now that the album was a flop. Don’t know how Baby could drop such a dud

Drake hasn't dropped mass released vinyls/physicals in general in 10 years but they're acting like this means anything lol.

He's still in the top 2 most-consumed artists of the year in the US.

The album itself wasn't a flop. I'd say it was an underperformance compared to My Turn because it won't have its longevity.

I don't think he's ever reaching the peak of success of My Turn ever again btw. That was rare air.

in what world do physical goods make more money than digital/streaming that require no production, shipping and retail space ?

its a nice to have but he didnt secure the 500m deal based on his old media performance, thats not how the audience consumes music.

Yeah flop was a bit exaggerated but the album is clearly not going to perform like My Turn. It felt as if QC and Baby were trying to force a Carter 3 moment here but it didn’t happen because the album only resonated with Babys core fanbase and didn’t reach beyond that.
