"The top" favors newer releases but there's a lot of older albums on there.
Late Registration, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Best of Whitney Houston etc.I don't think the chart determines what is a masterpiece, it's extremely fluid but an album that stays on there for long (years) cannot be that bad.

I always thought that double album should mean double the sales numbers like pac with All Eyes On Me and The Love Below/speakerboxx
So if it sold 500 for ex shouldn't it equal 1000 for a double album?
