@Josk2 i would agree w you but a dude literally came itt and said he only likes music if he sees that other people enjoy it and wished for “generic music to come back”

this nigga dedicated was literally in here making fun of people for sitting down and listening to music like what the f*** is going on?

Age is one thing. Genre is also very important imo. Look at Kanye's streaming numbers and The College Dropout came out in 2004. Look at Em, Wayne. And maybe even Jay Z will do better streaming wise but we don't know yet

Without those physical sales the streaming numbers for Beyonce are very low. Not necessarily has to do w her fanbase being oldheads. And if that's the case, she didn't make that transition that well compared to multiple rappers. That was basically the only thing i said. Doesnt mean the album is bad or so. I don't judge music based on numbers. It does say something bout popularity in 2022 tho

I agree, Genre is also important. Hip hop dominant artists and even hybrid artists (Doja, Lizzo, LNX) literally debut their careers in the streaming era, which is much more successful with rappers than contemporary RnB acts like Beyonce or an Usher..

Again this is her first real LP cycle in the streaming era so we’ll see. She’s not knocking anything out of the park but I don’t think anyone was expecting 100 mill first day streams from her. 200k pure sales is insane though especially for a RnB fan base that’s 25 years old.

Hopefully streaming stabilizes for her in the coming weeks.

200k pure sales? God damn Beyhive may be more loyal than the KKK

She had them s***s ready to go. Drake doesn’t care about physicals like that unfortunately.

yep, not wanting kesha type music to make a return must immediately mean they listen to mysterious emo music, keep exposing your lack of IQ for everyone to see

I never said I do that either

I'm talking about how for example I really liked Dior by Pop Smoke when it came out & then after a bit a lot of my friends started also liking the same song & playing it. That made me enjoy it more, because suddenly I can talk to people around me about the song, Pop Smoke, other music like that etc.

I'm not sure if you guys just don't have friends or don't go outside, but this is a pretty standard normal thing lol

i never said I don't like music unless other people are playing it lol

name me a song released this year that's as succesful as Tik Tok by Kesha?

tbh Tik Tok by Kesha was a bad example & I don't even really like the song that much, it was literally an example

we can use Crazy in Love by Beyonce as an example instead if you want. Name me a song as successful released this year

Why are we judging music by how successful it is. That song is ass and was forced on us by radio

Bad Bunny Party s***s on that Kesha song

I do kind of get what @mangotflu is saying though. Whenever I host a party or play music for a lot of people who’s tastes I may not really know, I definitely stick to 2000s/2010s classics on the playlist. Most songs today don’t hit on the population level in the same way as those did. You could throw on Hotline Bling, for example, and everybody is instantly vibing with it. Can’t say the same for Jimmy Cooks or even Toosie Slide.
