Has anyone ever broken down how much of the runtime of each Drake project is comprised of hiphop songs with pure rapping?
That could be pretty fun. I’d like to see those percentages
People are really only okay with non-rap Drake in small doses, mostly because that's how he's brought up his listenership base. On every Drake release, you mostly get him rapping with a few songs of him singing sprinkled in-between. There's of course several melodic rap songs as well but he mostly raps.
That's why Honestly, Nevermind was so jarring. His singing on the album is poor on like 2 songs. On the rest of the album, I feel like he uses his voice very well to compliment the production but it's also mostly production he isn't used to singing over so you can hear him trying to find the right pocket on some of those songs. Sometimes it worked and sometimes, it didn't but overall, it's not nearly as a bad an album vocally as people are suggesting, especially since everyone knows Drake's singing range. I don't know who in their right mind expected him to sound like Whitney Houston over those beats.
As for the R&B Drake album, people only want that because they have so many R&B Drake songs they've come to love. That's a lot more in his wheelhouse so I feel like he'd deliver a lot better if he did an entire album of just R&B records. It'd probably be a walk in the park for him.

I never seen a era of rap when the big dawg that ran the culture couldn’t sell 400k+ first week besides the 80’s.
Anyone who wants to take over from Drake has to outdo him. It's really that simple. Drake had to do the same thing so it's funny when people act like you're being unfair when you set the same standard for other rappers. Drake was outselling a Jay Z/Kanye West collab album/scoring bigger hits than them 2 years into his career. Everyone knew it was over when that happened and then what followed was a run of unprecedented dominance over all his peers.
You can't be the #1 dawg when the guy who did that is still scoring bigger hits than you and outdoing you in his sleep. It might seem unfair but that's simply how it is. You can't reduce the standard for what it means to be the #1 guy simply because the current #1 guy set the bar so high. If you want to claim that title, you have to have to find a way to outdo him (something Lil Baby doesn't even seem interested in doing, which is what makes the people rushing to crown him look funny).
Drake wanted the #1 spot, said so on records and then went on to do just that. Lil Baby just wants to be make enough money to feed his family, live a decent life and be known as a really good rapper (and he's already doing all of that). He's not making any stake for the #1 spot — at least not yet.
A lot of r&b dudes and females couldn’t sing in the 90’s and 00’s and still went platinum. Lead dude from 112 was on the same level of drake singing wise.
Don't know how anyone with common sense can say he can't sing.
Lil baby can’t dethrone drake until he outsells CLB. CLB gonna end up the biggest first week for a rap album in 2020’s unless they change the rules or drake get into a beef and have proper promo and outsell CLB.
my turn gonna outsell clb...
after hours and starboy are charting tho. the streams are going to the og album this week.
not how it works the streams count for the album that would chart the highest

Yup lil baby not even aggressive enough to be the big dawg. Drake was going at rappers necks for the crown. Dude was so aggressive he was taking shots at Luda, common, pusha, jayz, kanye in 2011 before his sophomore album even dropped. Lil baby don’t have the balls to take shots and drake, Cole and Kendrick to remove them from the big 3. Drake took shots at the big 3 of the 00’s and said he was coming for the crown.
my turn gonna outsell clb...
Meh, his streams are kinda suspect imo. Dude doing 19k a week 2 years later when the album didn’t have any big hits. Either way CLB will end up 4-5x platinum in the long run. Didn’t lil baby tour off his album too? Drake would be doing 35k a week right now if he toured.

It has already outsold CLB lol. Thing is that Drake is still giving Lil Baby hits and Lil Baby isn't actively coming for Drake's spot.
If you're waiting for a time when Lil Baby will be the best-selling rappers with the most hits every year over Drake, that might never happen so he'd at least have to take a shot at the throne and he isn't doing that either so...
I think his next album will be f***ing massive, though. I'm excited for that.
Yall ever get tired of sucking and f***ing for drake? He pay bills in your house or something? GOD DAMN!

My turn had multiple big hits plus people just play the full thing. I know your fav can't relate 🌚

That's one difference between Drake and the rappers of this present generation. No one is staking a claim.
Lil Wayne was calling himself the greatest rapper alive and no one could dispute it because he was outworking/outrapping everyone on everything. After a while, everyone just accepted it as the truth.
Drake staked his claim. Same with Hov. Same with Kanye. Same with Eminem. Same with everyone else who ever ran s***.
These new cats don't wanna none of that. Even when they make their claims on records, it doesn't hit because there's no follow through with real actions. It's just talk for talk sake.

Nothing suspect about My Turn's numbers. There are many songs with great recurrent streams on the album. That's why it's done so well.

Huh? Drake got 5 number 1’s this decade, how many do lil baby have?

They not even trying to hide that this is just another Drake d***riding thread anymore

Yup lil baby just wanna make money, he don’t wanna run rap. It’s a full time job protecting a crown. At one point 4-5 rappers were coming at drake every year from 2011-16

Didn’t lil baby go on tour? This helps with longevity on the charts
