thegreatdivine's point is being a lil misunderstood, longevity probably should be in the argument when it comes to this stuff. there's been many artists in the last few years that were absolutely huge & fell off hard just 2-3 years later. Billie/Post Malone etc

even Olivia Rodrigo's last album sold double Ariana Grande's last album & more than Taylor Swift's. Olivia isn't bigger than either really

i'm a self admitted drake stan but there's no denying Bad Bunny is bigger in the US now for sure

kinda hard for me to fathom since in Europe I don't even think he's a top 10 artist so I don't know anyone that listens to him, but that's how s*** goes I guess

He released a bigger album in the US than Drake this year. Drake has still moved more units in the US than him/anyone else this year even with an album that underperformed. Even Taylor Swift has moved more units than Bad Bunny in the US this year and she hasn't dropped an album this year and she isn't bigger than Drake in the US lmao.

Y'all stay making this error. How can Bad Bunny be bigger than Drake in the US off ONE album? His breakout album in the US at that. How does that make sense? Y'all always set yourselves up with posts like this but it ain't nothing new.

u only as big as ur last album
    and drake flopped

You keep making specifications. They're saying he's bigger than Drake, period. Why are you adding "this year" when no one is saying that?

Gunna's album outsold Abel's album this year yet niggas had the sense to know to not suggest that Gunna is a bigger artist than Abel but when it comes to Drake, all sense goes out the window. I always forget lmao.

Because "they" is a specific group of people

It's funny that you're going off about shifting goalposts tho.

Biggest album? Yes. But he's the 9th biggest artist this year.

And that's all good. I'm talking about the album only, so I'm glad we agree there.

Kanye isn't even a top 20 artist then, seems a bit backwards lol

it should go based on the total units for the year I guess, not just the last album

Mind you, according to this post, Drake had moved 3.3M album units at this point (which doesn't include units from Honestly, Nevermind). Also, at this point, Bad Bunny's album had been out for 8 weeks (it moved 1.25M units in that time). So, before his album dropped, Bad Bunny had moved about 550k album units. And even with the massive success of his album, Drake will still very likely end the year selling more units than him in the US this year.

Bad Bunny needed the biggest album of his career to try to catch up with Drake in the US, who dropped a flop album. But Bad Bunny is the bigger artist between them in the US lol.

That's like saying Morgan Wallen is bigger than Drake off one album. Niggas just wanna clown Drake and are using Bad Bunny's success to do instead of just being happy for the guy.

That's really all I'm saying. Many of them were touted as the next ones and they've already cooled off. In the last 5 years, there's been like 10 artists people on here have championed as the ones to outdo Drake or replace him, instead of people to just celebrate their success. I don't know why Drake's success gets people so mad on here that they run behind whoever is doing well at the time to try to go at him but what I know is that never lasts long before they have to find someone else to run behind.

using album sales/streams is a bad metric to compare a US artist and a international artists.major labels are just too heavily skewed towards the states

Bunny is undeniably the biggest artist in the world

Pretty unfair, Drake has released 2 albums in the last 12 months, Bad Bunny 1 album in the last 2 years.

give it till the end of the year and Bad Bunny is gonna be very close to Drake, if not above him on the US total album units

El Último Tour Del Mundo (2020)
Las que no iban a salir (2020)
    Un Verano Sin Ti (2022)

    Dark Lane Demo Tapes (2020)
    Certified Lover Boy (2021)

Also, my point is that Drake is big enough to move as many units as he does with/without a massive album. That emphasizes how big he is in the US. It's not to s*** on Bad Bunny. Drake is a top 3 artist in the US any year, with/without new music. The only other artist who can do that is Taylor Swift. No one else.

It's the same way Post Malone needed a massive album in 2018 and another in 2019 to finally/barely outstream Drake in 2019 (a year Drake didn't drop any new projects). That didn't mean he was bigger either. That's what I'm saying.
