Bad Bunny needs endless of Grammys for this album
He should sweep the Latin Grammys but the main Grammys may not be as supportive.
Yup. Funny how they leave that part out.
This is hilarious coming from a Honestly Nevermind denier
You are hiding a 7th studio album!

So if both Drake and Kendrick dropped albums next week:
Drake dropped a straight rap album with features from the best and most popping rappers, 23 tracks long
Kendrick dropped a heavy metal album with only 12 tracks and zero features
Do you think it would make sense to compare their numbers?

This a***ogy doesn't make sense because this didn't happen in 2022.
But let's say this does happen in 2023 and Drake got 286k sales first week while Kendrick got 203k sales first week. It would not make the statement "Drake sold more than Kendrick in 2023" any less correct because that's what happened

Of course it's correct but it's a very stupid way to look at things. Zero logic. Same with the HN & Big Stepper album.
Compare the rap album with a rap album that dropped just some months ago. He blew him out of the water. No competition.

You were not looking to discuss the broader context when clowning MM&TBS sales. Most of that album is not mainstream sounding, does not have mass appeal, completely disappearing from public for over 4 years is not the hype builder you pretend it is, it was not promoted much before release or at all after release and it has a lot of controversy surrounding it. Texts go green should not be falling off the charts the same way We cry together did ffs
If HN got more sales than MM&TBS, you'd have no problem comparing them and we all know it.

I always said that Kendrick didn't go for a mainstream sound with the album but there are like 4-5 songs that were created with the intentions of the songs becoming hits. None of them did.
A comeback album by a big act does always sell more, same with comeback singles. It is def a hype builder. It's only non-huge acts that can't use that tactic as they simply would be forgotten about. But if you look at the history, it's easier to sell more after having a long break compared to when you drop weekly/monthly. That's just undeniable facts.
You say it didn't have much promotion.. Neither did CLB. Didn't seem to affect its massive sales of 613K first week.
As for Text Go Green vs We Cry Together - I've already said that this was a Drake L. No doubt about it.

If it's undeniable facts, point out one case during the streaming era where an act completely vanished from the public eye for as long as Kendrick did and came back to sell more than their last album?
And third paragraph is just cap. Trailer towards the end of 2020, heart in hair, LNCL, billboards, album cover intended to be memed dropping a week before

No one said he had to sell more than his last album. But a 50% drop is massive.
Yeah, a heart in his hair is amazing promo, deffo added 100-200K to his sales!

"A comeback album does always sell more" - more than what then?
It's undeniable facts right, should be easy to name a few
It was intended as promo for that album, no matter how well it worked or didn't. Drake did not have a heart in his hair before that era, has not had one since. I've seen people actually walk around with that s*** because of Drake

More than you would if you dropped a new album every 6-12 months. Should be fairly obvious to anyone.
Drake didn't hop on any radio stations/shows to promote his album. That's real promo. Not cutting a heart into your hair lmao. Putting up a billboard about dropping an album isn't anything different to making a instagram post lmao. It's even less effective considering that you reach out to more people by doing it online.

You said it didn't have much promo which is just false
Dropping a trailer almost a year before the album, putting up billboards in different cities (not a billboard). Drake also had an IG post announcing the album btw, so Idk what you're even trying to say. That's all promo
I'm still waiting on examples where an artist took 4 years between releases and it led to an increase in sales. You can't say "Taking this long obviously leads to more sales than if they dropped sooner" because you have no way of knowing that

I'm not a Wayne fan, but I looked it up when you brought it up and there's mixtapes and an album between C4 and C5. It's not a***ogous to the Kendrick situation, he completely disappeared between Black Panther and Melodic Blue features. Then completely dipped again until the Superbowl

Why not? Oh I know nvm...

i don't really count non commercial releases tbh. But Eminem also took a 5 year break.

I do agree that you'll sell less if you're oversaturating and always dropping, but I disagree with this logic that "longer wait = guaranteed more sales". There reaches a point where people get sick of waiting and lose interest. Otherwise big artists would just always take 5 years between projects, they'd have nothing to lose

It obviously depends who you are. IMO you have to reach a certain a level to do that but once you do it works. Like Gunna couldn't take 5 years off.

I think there's more to it than just who you are. If Drake took 5 years and came back with HN, it would not sell more than CLB just because it's been 5 years. So Idk why certain people keep bringing up "5 years" for Mr Morale, that album would've been polarizing and wouldn't do well even if it dropped in 2020

Obviously assuming rappers make a rap album...
