It's been a narrative for the longest time, especially during Nicki's run of dominance from the early 2010s. Her run ended when Cardi B blew up and Cardi B's momentum cooling off is coinciding with Doja Cat's rise.

I said for the longest time that Cardi was going to be a fad and people would quickly get sick of her and tbh I ate my words but I guess I ended up being right in the end… just like 4 years late

Cardi is cool but she isn't nearly as talented as Nicki or Doja. Her next album era will be good because WAP/Up will be added to the album. That's 2 #1 singles and 1.5M RIAA pre-release units so even if she doesn't score another hit off the album, it will at least make it to a 2x Platinum certification. I wouldn't write her off just yet but she certainly hasn't done herself any favors taking so long to release a sophomore album.

Yes Indeed, Wants And Needs, Girls Want Girls are up there with Drip Too Hard. Those will be Baby's only diamond songs by the end of the decade. Yes Indeed almost there already and it ain't even 2025. Laugh Now Cry Later and In The Bible did a lot for Durk and even he would tell you that. Some of yall really don't be in the streets like that so it might not seem like it

Very true. I’ll never understand why people walk away for so long when they’re hot. One mistake that Drake has avoided masterfully.

Same. I also don't get working your ass off for years and years to build a fanbase just to abandon them for 3/4/5+ years. Makes absolutely no sense to me. If you create a monster, you have to feed it. And it doesn't even mean you have to drop a new project every year but there's definitely better ways to manage presence that doesn't involve completely disappearing.

I'm glad Drake has been wise enough to understand that.
