Nothing screams insecurity more than when the Drake sxn rushes EVERY artist’s sales thread to celebrate that Drake’s year old album outsold.

DAMN. did have significant physical sales though. i think with them kendrick probably would have crossed 400k. drake would have crossed 700k with CLB as well if he had them available first week.

These numbers are pretty amazing for a pretty bleak album.

As for drake, Drakes talent is that his music is so easily accessible by design. I appreciate K Dots new s*** as a music nerd and will continue digging into that album a lot, but it also made me appreciate Drake in a certain regard. He lowers the stakes but understands how the vast majority of people consume music (it is entertainment for most). He kinda accepts that…he doesn’t really over reach note: he’s never come close to having a savior complex for example. he understands that’s not something he’s in tuned with and rarely tries to make himself into that. This of course can lead to critiques from a music nerd like myself in the past, but idk he just functions perfectly in his lane. I still think he can find something a little more introspective and commercial in the future.

yeah. I would rather listen to 100 of artists that I like more than Drake than the dude himself, but to deny he is the king, still today, and people here debating Kendrick is the king when it comes to popularity or running the game is absurd, even if Kendrick is obviously the better rapper

All of 2020 Kendrick stans were making threads saying that he would outsell Drake.

When Kenny Chesney bundled his way to a #1 people were making 4/5 threads about it a day.
