Interestingly enough I was at work the other day and they were doing a story about how women are starting to leave religion more while men are beginning to "find religion" at larger rates.
The big reason for this is because throughout history, religion has often been used as a tool to control and is oftentimes male-centric. They love the parts of religious text that state that the man is ruler of the home/household. But conveniently ignore many of the parts about sins and honoring the mother of your children.
