because, quite simply, critic bait does not mean making an album that appeals to everyone
it means making an album that would appeal to critics

But in reality, everything kanye made before that and afterwards is and was already "perfect" and on mbdtf levels, before mbdtf existed. But since kanye was at all time low, mbdtf was created to show the world "hey, y'all, this is that perfectionism s*** y'all wanted from me, well, here it is!" In a sense, as kanye stated in an interview before, he, "bowed down to the expectations" that kanye created by getting to that level of genius and creativity. so basically kanye made the ideal perfect album to make everybody love him again hehe
Yep, but that's also not critic bait just trying to serve people
It doesn't take away what it sounds like, but he knew what he had to do to please the masses on that album, instead of making something he feels he has to make for himself which gets more critique- Oct 19, 2020·2 repliesblonded

Appealing to everyone is literally not critic bait unless you're going to make the argument that every song on the billboard top 10 is critic bait

He got lazier with the songwriting and rapping
KSG rapping was on point, but it was only 1 verse per song

Critic bait is like an attempt to shoehorn in ideas that critics appreciate but casual fans won't enjoy as much, while Twisted Fantasy remained very palatable for all

As in his delivery/flow was off or mixing/mastering?delivery, his vocals don't blend in with the music as they used to, he sounds less energetic, almost like a less confident version of ye, selah vs og selah is a great example of how much of a difference there can be
