And if he didn't write it then what's the point? Those lyrics are what make the song amazing. It's not like closed on Sunday where the melody carries the song. All the lyrics on Violent Crimes hit hard, and to know Ye didn't pen makes the song feel empty.

Even when I’m not listening to the album I can’t get the melodies and chords out of my head. I don’t want to over-listen and get sick of it but I legit can’t stop listening to this

Knowing that is definitely better than the former. But what I said stands just the same. I could study someone's whole entire biography and write a song about their feelings. But it just doesn't hold the same weight as them themselves writing the words.

To think I'm hearing the words of Kanye himself describing his change from objectifying women to fearing that being done to his daughters. I know that he's experienced this growth in his real life. But knowing he didn't pen the words takes away from me getting this growth experience through the song, which therefore cheapens the song. If you get me.

I've lost count of how many times I've wanted to hear Follow God and then just end up letting the entire record play

Not enough talk about how amazing “God Is” is

Man I wanna love this album but it just feels incomplete. Most of the songs I love feel like demos, and even some of the complete ones just sorta end in an unsatisfying way (Hands On is a good example despite being my favorite song on the album). I wish Kanye took his time fleshing out songs instead of just doing some effort and calling it finished.

All in all it's like a 6-7/10 for me

I’m trying to avoid burning myself out on it, but by the time Jesus is Lord cuts off I’m ready to hear the whole album again.
