half of these versus sound like Ye recorded them after putting his children back to sleep at 5am
Kanye cares soooo much about streams but he won’t admit it. If streams would be counted by seconds and minutes played these songs would be longer 100%.
Just finished first listen.
First impressions, a great piece of art on its own. Gonna need time to marinate. Ye did ruin the storm and Selah, but it’s ok in the context of the album. But yeah some people will hate this some people this might be their favorite ye album
don’t know how you go from MBDTF and Yeezus to this maaaann. I never wanna s*** on my favorite artists music but i’m only feeling 2-3 tracks on this
1st listen of Yeezus and ksg I hated em.
Gotta let that sht marinate fam.
ok first listen i f***s heavy with like half of this
the other half hella mid. and it doesn't seem like a well composed album if it they were good songs
frustratin ass nigga smh
I can't believe someone of you are really saying this is as bad as The Big Day wtf
Yall really hating on an album cause it doesn’t SOUND good
This aint how we do in 2019
is it supposed to taste good?
You can transition to dadrap without being trash though, and his religious message is as deep as a puddle
Yeah the perspective is shallow, but that doesn't stop it having a strong direction, purpose and some meaning. Most people's perspectives are shallow, this could be Ye's genuine perspective. It doesn't stop the music being great imo (the mixing not so much and I think they could have been more creative with the production).. Even a lot of the GOAT artists have shallow perspectives.. In hip hop not so much but in the other genres definitely.. And is the perspective really as shallow when it is building on 20 years of ideas?
I'm hoping he can expand on the themes (although he probably won't, and f*** it why should he, he's covered more in his discog themes wise than most mainstream rappers)...
My point was is I'd rather have this content than content that just comes off as strange which is where we would be heading if he hadn't taken this turn
I'm actually kinda sad
Oh well thank god I didnt do a listening party now that would've been awkward
Listening to this without looking at this thread, this album is a 6/10 at the very least. You go on here and it looks like it's a 3/10.
It's a 6/10 for sure if we're talking thematically. He did really do what he set out to do. But for a rap album, it's alienating and it's selfish so it's got less appeal, the production and features aren't varied from his usuals too too much so it's got less appeal.
It's probably an 8/10 gospel album, but that doesn't do much for his hedonistic fanbase... it forces you to listen to his religious talk and come to terms with where you're at with that. For some that's cool and for others an instant-out.
So it's def a 3/10 from the community for sure. I gave it a 4.
i sadly cannot do a second listen to this album, the mixing on everything we need made me go deaf
Kanye cares soooo much about streams but he won’t admit it. If streams would be counted by seconds and minutes played these songs would be longer 100%.
if he cared about streams he wouldn't have released it at 12pm lmao
