Yeah he has a problem with all modern day concepts his issue though is getting into Holocaust denial. He could communicate the same ideals and themes he is now without denial. S*** he could even just focus on the idea of why would America accurately report their level of crimes in the slave trade. In his case though he said slavery seemed like a choice so he dug himself into a hole of poking at everyones trauma without being well versed or educated in the history of it or slave narratives outside of fictional one he always tells

there’s a very strong difference here

traditions change meaning/values over time. thanksgiving isn’t about anything historical anymore, just like christmas isn’t about religion anymore. they are things that have evolved to mean celebration, spending time with family, and being thankful for the little we have to be thankful for in this crazy world.

This sounds akin to the "you're against capitalism but still participate in it" argument. It's true but participating to survive isn't the same thing as just blindly following it without questioning it. People work jobs and jobs observe thanksgiving as a day off and people want to enjoy that time with family and have a break from the monotony of the American work week. People can do this and still speak out against Columbus on Thanksgiving day
