Alright, some thoughts after a lunchtime listen today:

    • True Love sounds fantastic. X hook is the best I’ve heard from his posthumous work imo. Best Ye lyrics on the album despite the flow feeling a little weird in places. Could be longer, could also work as is.

    • Broken Road hook is great, verse is generally pretty good. Homeless bar needs to go. Just f***ing stupid and out of touch from a literal billionaire. Needs a second verse.

    • Get Lost is gorgeous and singlehandedly gave me hope for the project. Desperately need him to finish this. With proper lyrics, has potential to be one of my favorite late career Ye songs.

    • Too Easy (pretty sure that stream rip swapped the names of those two given the lyrics) is also great. Needs finished lyrics and maybe a verse in the middle over the instrumental or added at the end.

    • F*** Flowers has already significantly improved from the stem player snippet. I personally don’t like the lyrics, but they’re finished at least lol. Instrumental is hard and could do with a drop, or could be good as is.

    • Security… I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but I really don’t like this one that much. The instrumental is cool and there are some fun bars, but it just doesn’t click for me. Could be a grower in CDQ, but it does sound more finished than most of the other tracks at least.

    • We Did It Kid needs finished Ye lyrics and imo another verse from either Keem or Ye or someone else. Migos did their thing, not particularly loving it but it works. Instrumental feels a bit empty imo.

    • Pablo is f***ing dope. Another Ye verse that needs finishing. Would love to hear more Travis as well. Future sounds solid. Not a lot to complain about here tbh - just needs polish.

    • Mr. Miyagi is f***ing weird lol. Not bad per se, but very forgettable. Future is mixed weirdly low and Ye yet again needs to finish his lyrics. I feel like it needs some kind of switch up for the second half, either a new feature or an instrumental shift.

    • Louis Bags… that hook sucks, man. Honestly, this is my least favorite. The finished bars are extremely repetitive and the unfinished parts don’t feel particularly promising. Jack Harlow doesn’t really do much to help, either, although the beat works well for him at least. And that Kamala sample is just straight up unpleasant lmao.

    • Do I Look Happy? is really promising imo. I like the beat a lot and Ye’s part works really well as a foil to Future’s. As always, lyrics need to be finished. I’d personally like Future’s verse shortened a bit, but it doesn’t need to be. The energy is insane overall and imo it achieves what Security doesn’t in terms of representing anger and anguish.

    • Sci Fi is really weird. That intro sample needs to go. Sean Leon (I think?) sounds solid, but also pretty unnecessary. Ye’s part has some good ideas, and then of course he has to drop that Morgan Freeman semen line. And the instrumental is really nice, but doesn’t really go anywhere. Not a fan of the hook either.

    • Selfish shouldn’t work as well as it does on paper lol. Not sure who the feature is, but they do a great job. Instrumental is great. Ye’s part reminds me of TLOP in generally good ways, even if I could do without the Lewinsky bar lmao.

    • Lift Me Up is a really strange one. Vory kills it as always, but it’s essentially a solo track of his. I can’t really see where Kanye could come in a la Moon, either, but I could be wrong. Curious about where this goes.

    • First Time isn’t bad I guess, but it’s not great either. And I don’t like how often I feel like these songs feel forgettable. There’s a lot of work needed here on Ye’s part, and I feel like this could benefit from a beat, but in general it kind of feels hollow. I’m just not a Soulja Boy fan either lol, but whatever, his verse isn’t bad I guess.

I think I’m going to go back and listen to Donda LP1 and see how this compares. I can’t help but feel lukewarm, but they’re obviously demos and I don’t want to be too hard on them until we hear the finals.

Everyone laugh at my naive ass from 20 mins ago thinking these weren’t done
