Im not sure how well 808s works as an album of processing grief about people who passed away as opposed to lost love, you couldnt compare it to a A.P.I.D.T.A. its defo more about lost love
In the description of the DONDA event they were actually saying how this would be the first time Kanye went deep on his family life for a whole album and how important it was that this is named DONDA, and its true cause it feels like we’ve gotten it sparingly like on Only One, FSMH Pt 2 etc. but never really as raw as Never Abandon Your Family

It makes sense. Kanye's biggest muse in his life is his mom - he's made an album about basically everything in his life up to this point except his relationship with his biggest role model. IMO this album is overdue by about 10 years but I'm glad we're getting it now
