Kinda impossible w the trilogy 808s mbdtf yeezus
But its def a good album, at moments even great
Donda > JIK > ye > Yeezus > TLOP > 808s > MBDTF > CD > LR > Graduation
Something like this for me.
Even though graduation is at the bottom it is better than almost any other artists best album. Graduation something like a solid 8.8/10

This might be the worst Kanye album ranking I’ve ever seen in my entire life

You cooked
That isn’t even remotely close to my ranking but I respect anyone who shows love to ye and JIK
I would do anything to go back to the day the Tyler Ye LOTP snippet was posted and just relive those 3 months of chaos until Donda dropped

Just curious, how old are you?

Hot take
Give it a few years if you don’t agree. Maybe your nostalgia for the old albums is clouding your objectivity.
If you prefer CD over something like TLOP or ye that’s fine. CD is really great but musically it’s light years behind Kanyes more recent stuff as far as music theory and actual song structure/composition as well as the sounds they make in the more recent albums are more advanced. Samples vs unique sounds, just think of All Day, Jail, Hands On, for example where we have colourful sounds compared to the comparatively simple samples in CD. I think there’s samples used in Hands On but the way they’re being used is very unique and different. Mike Deans guitar is may more expressive than some sped-up samples, unique sounds that are engineered are always going to be more interesting than a sample. Basically every song on TLOP is like a different sound. Whereas a lot of the CD songs sound similar in comparison. The amazing thing is that TLOP is still cohesive as an album, I’d argue it’s more cohesive than CD. Same can be said for Donda.
College Dropout Kanye sounds like he’s not even trying compared to the music on Donda. It’s way more work to have an album like Donda with features all over the place, a meticulously crafted album where each song sounds different but it all holds together like glue so it works as an album. In particular an album with so many tracks that no matter how you order it or shorten it, the album still works out to be cohesive and deep/meaningful/touching.
Donda is so much better than Kanye’s other projects that it’s in a tier of its own.
Heck, even compare something like Travis Scotts Sicko Mode vs College Dropout stuff. The engineering and production and the singing and rapping is way more advanced than stuff from the CD era. The best modern music is way better than music from 2004 and what’s great is there’s way more good music today than there way 20 years ago, thank God. That being said there’s also way more mediocre music to sift through.
