LateRegWhat bothers me just as much is that both Rolling Stone and Pitchfork both cannot fathom...cannot let in the alternative notion that maybe Donda is not as bad or mediocre as they thought. Pitchfork refers to its inclusion as a "sick joke" that wouldn't qualify as one of the year's great albums by any metric. To be that sure of yourself when talking about a dense, complicated album by one of the all-time great and groundbreaking artists is pure, short-sighted arrogance. It's disgusting.
arrogance is kinda that platform's thing. it had a reputation in the past of bein somethin different in the music review landscape n it still tries to maintain that image when it says stuff like the grammys bein the "barometer" n "mirror" for mainstream music, meanwhile pitchfork is definitely not very different in terms of representing mainstream music lol. not to say that its reviews represent the general feeling ppl have of music, rather that it's a very mainstream publication in the field. it tries to act like it's not

what a boring perspective on music
also it's funny they call "jesus lord" a "paradoxically" named song. like 1) many songs have names that make no or little sense, and 2) it's incredibly annoying how common it is for people with minimal knowledge of religions to speak on themthey go on to compare DaBaby to a series of white rapists and molesters like louis ck and dr luke. which is cool, and, uh, progressive.
