I think pretty much every song after Praise God doesn't really live up to the expectation because the album is a lot less aggressive after 24. That being said, just getting rid of Jonah and going straight to Ok Ok is pretty close to ideal
I find that using the part 2s of OK OK and Junya adds to the momentum because they're livelier. In that way Jonah just seems like a breather.
You can say what you want about the sequencing, but as a collection of songs idk how you can’t put this album up there with his best works
How do you beat songs like OTG Hurricane BWIS REMOTE MOON JESUS LORD PURE SOULS CTL
SOOOO MANY CLASSICS
I know you didn’t ask me lol but imo, Jonah ought to have gone later in the album - imo it could’ve worked best after Jesus Lord instead of New Again
Honestly with Jonah out of the way the momentum continues through to 24, which imo should have been near the end of the album.
Idk, I’m still working on warming up to the sequencing in general tbh. Donda Chant into Jail is genius, Pure Souls onward is perfect, but there are so many songs in the middle that are just placed so weirdly that it’s hard not to just listen in a playlist I made myself instead of the album order unless I’m planning to just listen to the whole thing start to finish.
Hey thanks for the response. I can totally see that.
I think its important to note that the album is perfectly symmetrical, at least in terms of its first three and last three tracks. The first track and last track function as an intro and outro, the 2nd and 2nd to last are both passionately sung over minimal instrumentation, and the 3rd and 3rd to last both have extended outros.
I have some issues with the middle of this generously long album, and I do think you can construct a perfect 10 or 12-song album out of what we have, but the reason I keep holding out hope for a deluxe is because with so many songs already I think it only becomes stronger by adding more, especially when Life of the Party and Never Abandon exist, which seem to be key components that were left out in favor of less impactful songs, and which would help with the flow of the album. But every song is at least good.
Real ones know Life of Paul > Life of Pablo
Some of the samples are too long but I love the Feats and alt verses

Correction: Andrew McCutchen coming out to both Praise God and Heaven & Hell on the Phillies. GOAT
What other tracklist order have yall experimented with to get a different feel on the album
I can’t believe we ended up getting the best possible outcome from this era; Kanye released damn near 30 tracks, gave us multiple listening parties and is now back in prime form and releasing some of the best music of his career
This is definitely an era il forever hold close to my heart, insane
