I blame the cover for the polarized reception of this album.
It’s psychological man. On a subconscious level. Humans are very simple creatures and judge things by their appearance. I get what he was tryna do but he got in the way of the music imo. The music on this album is phenomenal. No reason it shouldn’t be universally respected and appreciated.
If he had an aesthetically appealing cover and also showed a bit of restraint by cutting a few tracks that would fit better elsewhere I’m sure CLB would easily be his most universally beloved project since NWTS.
