Because Kanye coping with the fact that his mom will never come home . Thus his home doesn’t feel like a home anymore but a jail . Filled with sinners he got on the porch . He wants to do all this to be chosen ( no child left behind ) and see his mom but knows he will never see her again .
There’s a lot of symbolism that I feel like is going to take me a while to process, but the layers of meaning behind Jail, the two versions, the LP3 context, the choice of it as an opener to an album about his mom… I feel like you touched on a lot that I hadn’t put words to yet. It’s powerful
