I think the message of the LP2 is that Donda's death made Kanye angry at the world, and he lives in isolation and uses his mother as a protection from the world around him thus bulletproof vest with Donda's name and bear hunting outfit with spikes, you can't really hug this person.
Then when he finds God, Jesus helps him to ascend past these worries and to spiritually be closer to his passed away mother.
In LP3, in the end he opens his heart to Kim, and burns that materialistic prison which he was in. I think at first, what's going on in LP3 around Kanye seems like Donda's funeral, but I think that it's funeral because angry resentful Kanye dies, burning in that room and then he is rebirthed.
