Nomad LostThere's a lot of things to say about this but I think three points sum it up well:
1. Overall, majority of the songs are improved -especially the mixes, production details and KANYES ACTUAL PERFORMANCE
2. The set was dope but the visuals were uninspired. Unlike LP2, where the floor actors, choir, and Kanye all felt in sync to the music, LP3 felt like Kanye was hanging with his homies listening to the albums and watching the background actors run around the circle. It just didn't feel very compelling (obviously the fire and the marriage was amazing but it was seperate to majority of the LP).
3. Kanye really really doesn't like to be in the good graces of the media. He became the darling once again of music in the past few months. Drake beef aside, he was finally mending a lot of the wounds between himself and the media/general music fans. However, between taking off the biggest features, having Manson chilling on the porch, and some of the other random choices he made (the random trap song in the middle of the LP) basically guaranteed that he will got a LOT of slack from everyone.
Great takes, my man.
The other listening party was more exciting but this had some very compelling conceptual moments.Love: Kanye soaring through the sky to 24. Especially when the ending of the last listening party is shown through that peephole lens. The peephole lens is one of my favorite recurring Ye motifs and I like how it’s used as a flashback here.
Ehhh: The cars. They just took away from the space. Especially when you have people directing traffic, it was just messy, never came together.
Corny: BREAKING NEWS. With bible verses next to that. I get what he’s doing. He’s juxtaposing celebrity scandal with the Bible but uh, I dunno, lil corny.
