What kind of commentary is "don't f*** with mentally ill people or THEYLL KILL YOU"
i only saw the movie once, and ironically was having an anxiety attack during it (due to unrelated reasons) so i don’t remember it too well, but i didn’t view it like that
from what i remembered, i just viewed it as someone getting failed by the system. could get the help they needed. no one listened.
iirc, his therapist or whatever kinda always just blew him off and hardly helped
so i kinda took it like that

And the movie ends up being way too long and has a boring 3rd act

I only watched it once but I from memory doesn’t he try to get mental help but can’t push through it
Tbh when watching the movies again it's very clear Thanos isn't supposed to be sympathized with, he spends the whole movie torturing people and also his motives don't make any sense when you think about it
his character is scrutinised but his ideas are presented as coming from a genuine place.
Also everyone knows that people very often sympathise with the villain so using that to sell ideas isn't anything groundbreaking.
