But you can also start with this imdb.com/title/tt0112159 it's a classic anime and new movies are remakes but not quiet. So I imagine if you watch anime first, you'll get some metamoments or references to this original series. The problem is that it's quiet old and final episodes were made on a very low budget.

So if you want to immerse yourself it's better to watch anime then final then 4 new movies.
