huey p rxcani’ll always have a soft spot for that. artists like him are antennas. they’re not great on a disciplinary level, but they’re amazing for charting where we are at culturally. but they’re not good for much else
i don’t think ye is willing to accept that his gift of being in tune to the wider culture in a moment where everyone is stuck in niche sub culture bubbles is beautiful. but it’s not effective in changing the world
in some ways i’d love to believe this makes “white lives matter” the counterculture now, thus making BLM the predominant culture.
but it really doesnt. but at this point it’s not like when he wore the maga hat where it was dangerous. it’s just annoying
could be wrong but it feels like the entire aesthetic of DONDA is abandoning this whole idea of uniting and shifting the culture in a positive way

It’s not really about defending the specific action of wearing that shirt, it’s more about being open minded and embracing our bravest artists to be controversial imo. I think that’s healthy and better than the alternative. But there are lots of absolute f***ing morons that are Ye fans
