Got $101 in the bank account and just wanted to say bad deal
LIRL
Great deal.
Bruce Springsteen sold for $500M last year and Bob Dylan sold his masters and publishing separately for a nearly similar amount
Lennon/McCarthy is complicated cus it was all wrapped into the deal MJs estate made where they sold the remaining half of Sony ATV to Sony for $750M. This included tons of other artists rights as well such as Eminem for example. This was definitely a meh deal but Jackson’s had serious debts to pay off and needed to secure funds. Maybe alone it’s $500M as well
I think MJs estate has still largely managed to keep MJs catalog.
The ATV sale was a trigger in the contract Jackson had with Sony for the remaining share.
The Estate has made over 2 billion since Jackson’s death, there are no debts.
MiJac (MJs catalogue) is 100% MJs, and now his Estates.
Justin Bieber Sold Music Catalog For $200 Million Because He Was Broke
"People on Justin's side told us he was on the verge of "financial collapse" back in 2022 ... so much so that he felt he had to sell the rights to his music that December.
We're told Justin's manager Scooter Braun tried to tell him it was a bad idea to sell so early in his career, and to at least wait until January 2023 to get a tax break ... but Justin didn't want to wait so he sold it in December."

Every thread about this users say it’s too low. I think it’s us who don’t really know lol.
More often than not these artists wouldn’t have seen $200M off the catalog if they kept it in their hands
