When you watch anything good Superman related you know the meat and potatoes is usually the social and moral dilemma then you have the spectacle.

In BvS stuff is introduced but blown up and Superman doest really make choices after that. Stuff just happens to him. He was mostly a prop for Batmans "growth"

In ZSJL he didn't really overcome anything and the fight means nothing which is crazy because Steppenwolf came off like a villain with some layers. The only choice he really made was to come back and fight for earth against Steppenwolf but again back to MoS BvS not letting him express his beliefs and what not.
