Now while Darkseid is probably manipulating the strings to some extent, it sounds like the reason there's a bad future is cus of Lois Lane and the Anti Life Equation. Which is probably mostly serving to say how close Superman can be from being a villain (which is also accentuated by the new black suit).

It might be Darkseid pulling the strings but it might also be Superman running all that s***. It's never shown that Darkseid is a threat to Superman. It's shown that he can take advantage of Superman, but if you're only controlling the strongest dude, you're only strong until the dude you're controlling realizes he doesn't need you to do what you're commanding him to do

And then he pulls up on them boys in 100% attack mode.
