I think the huge difference in the quality of the CGI is also a big part of people disliking Darkseid, but there is not much that can be done about that.

The design itself is actually pretty good. If/when they release concept art that'll be clear

Makes sense if you want the audience to connect with Thanos as the lead, Jim Starlin Thanos wouldn’t work in that context so the next best thing was to make him more like Darkseid. That cool and collected philosophical disposition? That’s Darkseid

No dumb cuts, no barriers, filters, etc.
