how do guys read more than 2 pgs w/o being distracted
the way i started reading was when i would wake up or before i go to sleep id just read little instead of going on my phone and over time it made it a hobby
This is normal bro everyone goes through this
It’s solved through Willpower and patience
Willpower because you have to sometimes tell yourself “just one more page..” or “no, sit down and read it instead of getting up”
Patience because it doesn’t just change overnight, it’s not a linear thing, sometimes you regress sometimes you progress
I do still just get up after two pages. However It’s a lot less now than when I started. Keep reading; Eventually you will be able to do three, then five pages, then ten.
Just keep reading and keep trying to train the attention span, phones and the internet have f***ed us

good answer

Recommended by @Koala. A real slick, seedy noir about two degenerates in a love/hate relationship committing the perfect heist. Absolutely sick little crime story
---‐------------------------------

Entertaining espionage spoof about a vacuum cleaner salesman accidentally becoming MI6's most valuable spy by just making loads of s*** up. Greene himself worked for MI6 and actually witnessed this kinda thing happening which is pretty mad

I have now read every Cormac McCarthy book! This one is probably my least favourite but it's still good and it was nice to see where he started. He shows early glimpses of his genius especially in the atmosphere he creates, but the story is a little lacking compared to some of his later work.
There's a pub in this called the Green Fly Inn that sits perched on the edge of a cliff and it's one of the all time great fictional drinking establishments, whole vibe is painted so perfectly it immediately had me reaching for a beer

100% agree. Did you end up reading it on your kobo
The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien

really good, think I probably liked this better than the FOTR. some of the scenes translated better on the big screen, especially the battle of Helm's Deep. classic stuff tho and the character development is impressive. gonna finish the trilogy soon
8.5/10
Heat 2 by Michael Mann and Meg Gardiner

prequel/sequel to the classic 1995 film. follows many of the same characters and captures the gritty noir/heist vibe that made the film so special. bounces around the globe as well as taking place in different decades which made for a really interesting story. I had low expectations but was very impressed by this book and couldn't put it down. definitely recommend it for fans of the film or crime thrillers. no clue how Mann could make this a movie without DeNiro/Pacino. definitely one of my favorite reads of the year
9/10
@sace @BabyBooz think I saw elsewhere you guys read this too, did you enjoy it as much as I did?

I’m still reading, but it’s a fun read. Reminds me of other Mann’s works like Miami Vice (2006) for one part of the book. I would recommend everyone if you watched the kino masterpiece; Heat!

The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea by Yukio Mishima

5/5 stars
TW: Animal cruelty and homicide is plotted upon

This book's main character narrates through an incomprehensible drivel of symbols and almost schizophrenic connections between characters. Uses some esoteric nihilistic teenage-angst philosophy to view the world.
Very easy to see the connection to his real life.
Amazing f***ing book; really, f***ed up, but beautiful, beautiful writing and amazing plot. Would recommend.

Morrison is a master storyteller. She completely builds this one from the inside out, starting with a central event and spiralling out from there then looping back round to it again and again. It's undeniably genius but I feel like at times it almost detracted from the story a little bit to the point where sometimes I felt a bit disconnected. At times beguiling and at times frustrating, but THAT'S JAZZ BABY.
Will chalk this down as a book that only semi-clicked with me but furthered my appreciation for a legend. Sometimes you don't have to love something to be able to appreciate a master at work
"Dubliners" by James Joyce

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. His writing felt like an old gentleman sitting on a porch retelling his life while smoking on a tobacco pipe on a crisp warm fall day. I also enjoyed his matter of fact way of story telling. I'd give it an 8/10 primarily since I've never been to Dublin it's difficult to imagine some of the imagery.
Now onto "Animal Farm" by George Orwell
“Animal Farm” by George Orwell
This is my first Orwell book and I’m thoroughly pleased. This was a solid 7/10 book. I do believe he was like right on the nose about everything. And each chapter was him just sitting on the nose, it was almost like a Pinocchio nose, but instead of lies it’s fascism. I want to read more of his stuff because he’s obvi written important things, but I’ll probably wait for a minute.
Next I’m reading “bones” by Fae Myenne Ng
Got a great fintech job but now I have way less time to read
I’m tryna force myself to read everyday again
